Hello and welcome to the Storybook Cottage Garden Themed Summer Home Tour. I am participating in this lovely hop organized by my friend Marty of A Stroll Thru Life. If you are coming over from The Stonybrook House I am so glad that you are here. Wasn’t Lori’s deck a wonderful transformation?
Garden Themed Summer Home Tour
My spring tour this year featured copious amounts of green and yellow. Wanting a cooler tone for summer I removed the yellow and added in layers of neutrals and white.
Our small entry helps to set the tone.
The entry leads directly into the living room.
The mantel continues the theme.
Nothing new was purchased for this tour. Old favorites were simply reimagined.
Decorative books, topiaries, and garden themed décor has all been seen before in other vignettes. The elements were simply regrouped in a new way.
I am a big believer that if you buy what you love and pair it with classic elements you can always create a fresh look.
Sunroom
You can see the sunroom through the double French doors.
I’ve slowly been redecorating this space. The color palette includes hues found in the summer sky.
You can see the transformation of a $30 desk in this post.
Dining Room
At the other end of the room you’ll find the formal dining area.
Our town library currently has a seed sharing program.
Local gardeners are encouraged to share their heirloom and native seeds.
Each week I pay a visit to pick up a book to read and collect some new envelopes of seeds. (Four packets per visit are allowed.)
Over on the sideboard the gardening theme continues.
Guests visiting Storybook Cottage are encouraged to select a few seed packets to take home.
Our property is heavily shaded, so not all the plant seeds offered would grow in my yard. So I happily pass the seeds on to those with sunnier spots.
I hope you have enjoyed my garden themed home tour.
Please come back soon to see my summer kitchen.
Up next is Chalking Up Success. You will love Jayne’s coastal décor ideas!
I’ll be back on Saturday with more decor to adore!

Your garden home looks lovely and so well put together. Please come over one day and give me some new ideas. It would be an all day event but fun! Love all your blue, green and neutrals. It’s hard to choose a fave spot. It’s a toss up for me between the dining room buffet and the mantel. Looking forward to seeing the kitchen! Happy Summer friend. We need to get together!

Laura, I didn’t realize until I studied the pictures in this post that if I always used white and forest green as the basics in my house that I’d never get tired of it and wouldn’t constantly be repainting. It is calming, serene, and every other color goes with it. Using white and blue as you have in the sunroom is the same idea. Using the color of the forest and the sky should have been apparent to me, before. I like the simplicity and it gets one off the hamster wheel of following trends. Adding the color of flowers would always work seamlessly. In the kitchen, all my 1940s tablecloths will look nice on the table. I wish I would have kept all the forest green glass that passed through my hands in the past 20 years. Instead, I collected an obscure PINK set of dishes with tulips on them. I was in my tulip phase then.
