Hello sweet friends, happy Fashion Friday! Many of us here in the states are preparing for a long holiday weekend. Mr. Decor will be donning his Coast Guard uniform as this is the most popular boating weekend of the summer. I thought it was perfect timing for A Vintage Beach Party post.
A Vintage Beach Party
I recently was invited to attend a fun sand and sun filled event hosted by the Women’s Vintage Society of Dallas.
My first thought of course was “What should I wear?”
In terms of vintage beach party apparel I could possibly don some Fun 50’s Beachwear.
Or perhaps a darling 1940s Sun Romper.

My work schedule seems to be particularly crazy busy right now. As the party was on a Saturday afternoon I needed to wear something that was also appropriate for morning appointments.
It was time to make something! I had a little over 2 yards of a retro inspired Amy Butler fabric that was reminiscent of a Lilly Pulitzer print. This pattern, view A, was perfect.
If you aren’t familiar with who Lilly Pulitzer is my post on Palm Beach Style is the perfect place to start.
A Love For Lilly
The dress pattern went together quite easily.
I made it more of a challenge with a bit of pattern matching on the front and back.
It’s a cool and comfortable dress. Perfect for a hot summer day.
The vintage cotton fringe trim was an estate sale find. The hat is vintage and the raffia slides were from a few seasons ago.
Beach Babes
These gals were truly the best dressed on the beach!
The group was begun by two fabulous ladies:
Jamie Ehrke-Seibert
and Erin Patterson.
I adore their vintage swimsuits!
April was a 1940s dream.
Hannah made her fabulous beachwear. It was inspired by the 1940s designs that were created with parachute silk.
Complete with a sweet kiss on the cheek.
This was the pattern that she used.

This Week’s Video
Short and sweet beach shenanigans can be enjoyed in this week’s video.
A Little Break
I’ll be taking the next two weeks off to visit with family from out of state as well as catch up on some work and home projects.
I hope you have a very safe and happy 4th of July!

Adorable vintage suits and your dress! Love the pattern matching and fringe. The colors remind me of really cool Skipper outfit I had back in the 60s. Fun!

Well done on the pattern matching! That’s super cute and the party looks fun. Love the fabric too.

Playing catch up here. This planning a wedding with Addi is taking up so much time and it’s not even until next April!
Anyway, you look so darling! Kinda wish bathing suits looked like those did now. Enjoy your time off!
