Hello sweet friends! We are trying to keep cool in this extreme heat. Thinking of a recent carefree beach vacation I happily agreed to participate in the Coastal Vibes blog hop hosted by Amber of Follow The Yellow Brick Home. If you are visiting from Shiplap and Shells may I say “Welcome!” Wasn’t Kim’s tablescape gorgeous? Today, I am sharing 24 Perfect Hours In Palm Beach.
24 Perfect Hours In Palm Beach
We began the day by visiting Whitehall right when it opened. This is probably the most famous home in all of Palm Beach, Florida. There is so much history and goodness that it deserved an entire post showcasing its grandeur.
This home features one of the last coconut groves in existence in the area.
Whitehall features many rooms decorated in traditional Palm Beach Style which is actually an interior design style all its own.
If you tour this magnificent home you will probably want to allow at least two hours to see everything.
Society Of The Four Arts Gardens
Our next stop was the Society Of The Four Arts Gardens. It is just a few minutes away from Whitehall.
This lovely oasis sits in the middle of the Four Arts Campus and is absolutely free to visit.
The garden was originally designed in 1938. It educates both residents and visitors about the diverse plants that thrive in South Florida’s climate.
Another section houses the Philip Hulitar Sculpture Garden which has some stunning works of art.
The Chinese Garden is truly lovely.
The gardens are maintained by members of the Garden Club of Palm Beach.
The gardens only take about 30 minutes to view in their entirety.
We were now ready for lunch. So this is a good time to talk about fashion.
I had read that places of business in Palm Beach can deny access if you show up in bathing suits/skimpy attire. It was recommended at a few locations we visited that men wear collared shirts. Mr. Decor opted for a cool cotton polo. He also wore a classic Panama hat which elevates any look.
I wore the Lilly Pulitizer-inspired dress that I had made a few weeks ago.
We were welcomed everywhere in our classic summer apparel.
The Breakers
No visit to Palm Beach is complete without a visit to The Breakers.
This beautiful hotel was built in 1926 by the New York City-based designers Shultze and Weaver.
The hotel was modeled after the magnificent Villa Medici in Rome.
Seventy five artisans were brought over from Italy.
They created the intricate paintings that still remain on the ceilings of the 200-foot-long main lobby and first-floor public rooms.
We had a 1:30 lunch reservation at the Seafood Bar. While our food was just ok, the view was spectacular.
After lunch we exited the back of the hotel and took a stroll along the breakers.
Being beside the water is Mr. Decor’s favorite thing to do.
There are also some lovely shops just off of the lobby that surround a picturesque palm courtyard.
Truly there is beauty everywhere.
Worth Avenue
Worth Avenue is considered to be one of the most beautiful shopping venues in the country. It is comparable to Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills.
I was most excited to visit the original Lilly Pulitzer store.
Her style is truly iconic.
There is a part of me that wants to collect various shells to recreate the amazing mirror shown above.
Each wall of the store features amazing hand painted wall art with shell applique.
Right around the corner from Worth Avenue is the chic Colony hotel.
The Colony was built in 1947. It is currently undergoing renovations so check availability.
Swifty’s poolside bar was open when we were there.
Afterwards, we returned to our hotel (Marriott) and ended the day with a dip in the pool.
Port Of Palm Beach
The next morning we were up early to head to the Port of Palm Beach.
This was for research for a big boat trip (the Great Loop) that Mr. Decor wants to embark on once he retires.
Our attire was more casual for the very hot day.
After strolling the docks we got in the car and said goodbye to Palm Beach.
It was time to take a short drive over to the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse.
There were 105 steps to reach the top.
The view was worth the climb!
I hope you have enjoyed this whirlwind tour of the Palm Beach area.
Up next is White Arrows Home. You will love how Kristin has decorated her lake house.
I’ll see you on Sunday,
Laura

Your trip recap was perfect for this Cottage Beach Vibe hop, Laura. You & Mr Decor looked fabulous for the Palm Beach rendezvous, especially on Worth Ave (did anyone comment on your fabulous dress in the Lilly store? They should have!). Jupiter is a nice area too. We explored these areas of FL several years when we contemplated buying something in FL (which never happened), but next to Naples and So Walton beaches, Jupiter was on my short list. Have a great weekend. I don’t always say it, but I love your Sunday Smiles, and look forward to those posts. 🙂

My Aunt Betty and Uncle Jimmy lived in Palm Springs for decades. Uncle Jimmy played golf everyday. When he passed away she finally moved on to the beach. We visited and still visit quite frequently. Looks like you had a great vacation. And I’ve made the trek up to see the view in that same light house before. So fun! We did a lighthouse tour once in FL. Loved that too. Thanks for sharing your trip. I think I would have highjacked the pink golf cart. 😉
