Hello dear friends! Today I have a special Fashion Friday post for you. It features my attempt at a Queen Elizabeth costume as well as lovely outing with the D.FW Costumers Guild. Here is A Jubilee Dress and Picnic.
Long Live The Queen
It’s no secret around here that I absolutely adore Queen Elizabeth II. For the Platinum Jubilee I wanted to create a dress that perhaps her Majesty would have worn at one time or another.
We both love a Peter Pan collar.
As well as a nice full, swishy skirt.
For accessories the dress could be paired with a fabulous floral hat.
She really loves them.
You could say it’s a trademark along with her handbag.
But what color?
Oh yes!!!
Vogue 4004
Inspired by her various favorite fashion moments I selected a vintage pattern, Vogue 4004. It went together quite well. I made view C but without the pockets on the bodice.
The fabric was a lovely cross shot linen. The warp threads are red and weft threads aqua. This results in a luminous fuchsia color. The fabric was found in the Portland fabric district last year. It’s been waiting for a special occasion.
I had the perfect vintage purse and gloves. My friend Michele let me borrow her darling stuffed corgi.
The vintage pearls and gloves belonged to my Grandma Mary. The lovely Limoges brooch was given to me by my dear friend Carol.
Though one of the Queens favorite dogs was her shaded cream dachshund. Even her current pet, Candy, looks very much like our dear Pony.
A queenly hairstyle requires an overnight wet set with bobby pins.
The gorgeous hat belonged to my Great Grandmother, Emma, who was quite the fashion plate.
A Jubilee Picnic
The guild had planned a picnic on Jubilee weekend. I royally took advantage of this majestic occasion and dressed up my little picnic table.
It featured some of my favorite estate sale finds.
Glorious Guests
For this picnic guests were invited to dress up in any era of their choosing. It was such fun!
Melissa was stunning in 1790s fashion.
Absolutely lovely Regency era attire.
Sarah’s entire Regency era ensemble was breathtaking. Her darling daughter was wearing Edwardian I believe.
Dixie’s 1770/80s cake hat was spectacular. You can learn to make it HERE.
Clever Angela made her parasol from a crocheted table topper.
Samantha’s gorgeous bustle dress video should be out soon. Here is her channel.
James was so elegant.
It’s always fun to take a group photo.
