Soft Shades Of Fall Home Tour

Hello and welcome to the Storybook Cottage Soft Shades Of Fall Home Tour. This wonderful collection of homes decorated in their fall finery is organized by my talented friend Marty of A Stroll Thru Life. If you are coming from 11 Magnolia Lane I am so glad that you are here. Christy is sharing her Stuttgart apartment which made me homesick for the lovely cottage we lived in near Kaiserslautern.

As it is still quite warm here in Texas I have selected a fall color palette that includes soft shades of white and cream paired with various greens and yellows.

The formal dining room decor was inspired by a beautifully embroidered tablecloth I found at an estate sale. The yellow depression ware was a gift to my daughter from my dear friend Kelly.

I created a new fall-inspired wreath that now hangs on the wall leading into the living room.

The Living Room

I always begin my decorating in the living room with the mantel. This year I was inspired to try a recreate a mantle found on Pinterest.

It will probably be another month or so before I switch to the heavier velvet slipcovers.

But fall-inspired pillows, artwork, and knick-knacks create an autumnal feel.

I found this happy hedgehog a few years ago at Michael’s but still love her.

A Cozy Guestroom

Recently, Sweet Guy moved into his very first college campus apartment. I took down the video game posters and found some neutral art. The room will still feel familiar when he comes home to visit but will also work as a cozy guestroom.

Several antiques we’ve had for years were moved into the space. I always like to include good lighting, extra blankets, and a chair for guests to sit on.

Hi Laura! Oh, your home is so lovely! Your dining room looks so nice and the way you’ve set your table on that pretty tablecloth is beautiful! How cute to have the little pieces of wood stacked inside your fireplace! Everything looks wonderful! Why would I be surprised! πŸ™‚
    Be a sweetie,

Love that depressionware on your dining table! My youngest just moved back to the States to start her freshman year of college and I’ve changed her room into a guest room, too, although like your son, she’ll still recognize it when she comes home! It’s always a pleasure to tour with you, Laura. Happy Fall!

Absolutely fabulous quilt in the guest room. Swooning over them — what a wonderful place for a guest to lay a weary head! And the rest of the house looks beautiful, Laura. Early fall. I like it.

A beautiful fall tour. Love the tablecloth you found at the estate sale.

Your fireplace looks pretty with its fall touches. Wonderful antiques too.

    Always enjoy seeing Storyboik Cottage.

That depression glass is so lovely, Laura. Your tabletops are always so inviting. I love that you are so thoughtful in decorating your guest room. So many don’t have a good reading lamp or a place to sit. I hate overhead lighting, so lamps are essential to all my rooms.

I adore that hedgehog. Even though I know he’s far from cuddly, I just want to pick him up and snuggle him
