Hello sweet friends! I love the funny and sweet holiday decor from yesteryear. It brings back such good memories of the fall carnivals and harvest festivals I attended as a child. Wanting to give my own kids a similar treat these DIY Vintage Halloween Party Cups were created.
DIY Vintage Halloween Party Cups
If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen on my stories that I had a garage sale this past weekend. I spent a good deal of the summer cleaning out closets, drawers, and the attic. Our wee shed was packed to the brim with things that were still good but no longer needed. But I have a hard time letting go of craft things. There was a big pile of Halloween themed stuff. I told myself it had to be used this year or be sold!
Supplies:
- Peat pots
- Craft paint and brushes
- Pipe cleaners
- Hot glue
- Pom poms
- Dollar Store florals
- Rickrack trim
- Vintage Halloween cupcake picks.
The Inspiration
The Tutorial
I had several bottles of acrylic craft paint with just a teeny bit of paint left. So I decided I would make my vintage-inspired cups various colors.
After the paint was dry I poked holes in a few of the peat pots and added a pipe cleaner handle.
Next, a bit of vintage silver rickrack was glued on. It reminded me of a Jack O’ Lantern’s smile.
A few years ago our Halloween theme was Cinderella and the Ugly Stepsisters Soirée. The centerpiece contained black dollar store roses with silver leaves.
I took off a few of the leaves and stems and hot glued them to the inside of each pot.
I filled the cups with brightly colored pom-poms. Sort of a fun take on faux candy.
The cups were then topped off with various vintage images. (Type in: Vintage Halloween Clipart in the Pinterest search box.)
Placecards and picks finished the look.
Happy little carver.
Something sweet for my Boo.
For myself, I picked an old crone. LOL
In Germany, the cottage witch Frau Holda brings good luck in the kitchen.
An extra one was made for you.
I hope you’ll stop by on Halloween night!
I’ll see you on Friday with a vintage themed banner and tablescape.
Are you decorating for Halloween?

Hi Laura,
These are adorable and priceless. I love the pieces you used and takes you back to the day. Such s thoughtful mom.
My husband LOVES M&M. He could eat an entire back throughout the day. I love the new hazelnut ones. I don’t eat them often.
Happy Halloween

It’s really scary to me when I see a post with a tutorial (and a very cute one at that) and look at the supplies and realize that I have every single one of the things needed and could pull these off today! The only thing missing is the time to do it! These really are darling and I might have to try to make up a couple if I can!
