Me Too Grandma, Me Too

My grandmother, Eleanor Becker aka “Grandma Jingles” was born on April 19, 1922. She was the last of four children and a welcome surprise. Her farming family didn’t own a car and she tells me stories about going to church on Christmas Eve in a horse-drawn sleigh.   While her three elder siblings ended their education at the eight grade level my grandmother wanted more. At 14 she left the family farm to move into town to work as a maid. During the day she was able to go to high school ... View the Post

A Rose By Any Other Name Birthday Centerpiece

Late last year I began gathering party inspiration ideas for my Grandma Jingles 90th birthday celebration. They can be found on my Pinterest party board here. It resulted in A Rose By Any Other Name Birthday Centerpiece. A Rose By Any Other Name Birthday Centerpiece One of the images that I just adored was this floral arrangement from Twig and Thistle. A Rose Amongst The Thorns

A Rose Amongst The Thorns. Last Sunday, I wrote a post on forgiveness. It included a sad story involving my Sweet Boy. Sometimes, when one is going through hard times, it is difficult to see the rainbow amongst the dark clouds. It may take several years before we can comprehend the value of lessons learned from difficult experiences and the blessings that may come from walking a rocky path.   Although things have gotten a bit better at school, there was/is still one area that the ... Wonderful Wall Treatments

As an interior designer, I have read and collected many design books over the years. It takes a very special book to receive permanent space on my bookshelves. It is very rare for a design book to continually inspire me page after page. I recently encountered a book that achieved both. It includes Wonderful Wall Treatments. Wonderful Wall Treatments For many people SO much thought and consideration goes into the furniture they select and the accessories they choose. While they may agonize ... View the Post

Barefoot In The Park

Barefoot In The Park

On a beautiful day during spring break I took the kids on a picnic at the park right around the corner from our house. Barefoot In The Park. Barefoot In The Park We packed up the enamel cups and metal plates we generally use while camping as well as the ticking napkins tied up with twine and a bit of rosemary from the backyard. With the exception of two fishermen sitting next to the lake, we had the park to ourselves. Everyone said grace before enjoying the BLT sandwiches. ... View the Post
