The beautiful Wigwam Resort is located practically in my backyard. It is a lovely getaway favored by the rich, famous and me. Every Sunday they host a local farmer’s market on the grounds of the front lawn. Occasionally I stop by after church since it is right up the street. It was a warm day so I was thankful to be wearing a lightweight green cotton voile blouse I found at Goodwill for $3.00. The white skirt came from Anthro last summer. It was also at a deep discount. Why? It had one ... View the Post
Queen For A Day
On the day of her birthday my grandmother proclaimed that the Queen of England had nothing on her. Stuffed into my suitcase along with all the other party paraphernalia was a spool of double faced satin ribbon, press on glitter letters and a crown that each received the full on birthday treatment. I had exactly one hour to decorate the entire space AND lay out the food. I should have packed my roller skates. Then it was just me and fifty people who wanted cake. So….. there weren’t ... Bob and Wave
I returned home safely late last night, so thankful for beautiful memories made with my grandmother. When I saw this sweet boy and girl celebrating I knew this was the image. I just added the greeting using “sparkly swanky diner font” in Picasa since it has a happy retro vibe. I wrapped pale pink Martha Stewart party favor boxes from TJ Maxx with vintage paper lace. The happy image was then glued on over the ribbon. The paper punch flower ... View the Post
Me Too Grandma, Me Too
My grandmother, Eleanor Becker aka “Grandma Jingles” was born on April 19, 1922. She was the last of four children and a welcome surprise. Her farming family didn’t own a car and she tells me stories about going to church on Christmas Eve in a horse-drawn sleigh. While her three elder siblings ended their education at the eight grade level my grandmother wanted more. At 14 she left the family farm to move into town to work as a maid. During the day she was able to go to high school ... View the Post
A Rose By Any Other Name Birthday Centerpiece
Late last year I began gathering party inspiration ideas for my Grandma Jingles 90th birthday celebration. They can be found on my Pinterest party board here. It resulted in A Rose By Any Other Name Birthday Centerpiece. A Rose By Any Other Name Birthday Centerpiece One of the images that I just adored was this floral arrangement from Twig and Thistle. The arrangement had everything my grandmother loves~ flowers, peachy pink, and a touch of vintage. Of course, you can’t always find ... View the Post
