Paris Part 1 Arriving, Arrondissements, Accommodations and Modes of Transportation

After flying all night on Delta I arrived in Paris via the Charles de Gaulle airport on the morning of May 16th. I generally exchange a bit of money at one of the kiosks in the airport as they often have the best exchange rates. Due to my large bag I opted to take a taxi from the airport rather than ride the train or bus into Paris. Please know that this is the most expensive option but of course it is also the easiest. Taxis are available right outside of the baggage claim area. Signs are well ... View the Post

Packing for Paris and Provence In The Spring

I think the number one question women ask themselves when preparing to go to France is “What should I pack?” So here is a post on Packing for Paris and Provence In The Spring. For myself, I say “As little as possible” because I want the room in my suitcase for the many treasures I plan to bring back home.  As a rule, French women of a certain age~ Parisians in particular, stick to solid neutrals such as black, beige, navy and white, then they add pattern and color via their accessories. There ... View the Post

Peace and Quiet

For the past few months my life has been run at a constant, frantic pace. Each day I struggled to make my way through lengthy to-do lists. I was in desperate need of Peace and Quiet. There was so much to do before I left my family alone for two and a half weeks. Deep cleaning of the house needed to be done, bills paid, laundry finished, and of course, the pantry, refrigerator, and freezer required filling of wholesome foods and meals so I could rest easy that my family was well cared for during ... Sometimes You Just Have To Go On Faith

So I am about to let a big cat out of the bag. As you read this I am probably looking at this: Or perhaps this: Any guesses where I might be? How about another hint? Yes. I am in Provence. Over two years ago I had made plans with my cousin L. to celebrate a milestone birthday of hers in France. For over 2 years we have been reading guidebooks, researching cities and conspiring on how we would spend our days. L. is considering purchasing a small home in the Provence region and ... Creating A Hydroponic Garden

Have you heard about hydroponic gardens? My brother, R.C. has had one in his backyard since last fall. As Sweet Boy was working on the “Gardening” merit badge in Boy Scouts we have been closely monitoring the gardens progress. It is a fantastic project to create. You can grow any type of fruit or vegetable in a hydroponic garden that you can in a regular garden. Hydroponic gardens have been around since the 17th century. My brother recommends the book “Aquaponic Gardening” by Sylvia ... View the Post

Joseph’s Lilies

Joseph’s Lilies

Do you have favorite characters from the bible? I do. One of them is Joseph. Mary’s Joseph. Jesus’ earthly father. Joseph’s Lilies. In a time when an unplanned pregnancy was enough to bring shame to an entire family, he stood by Mary’s side. Even though he knew with certainty he had not fathered the child. In the harrowing days after Mary had delivered her son he alone was responsible for carrying a postpartum mother and the Light of the World to safety. Joseph, a Jewish carpenter, raised ...
