I am so excited! Today the Summer Tour of Homes starts over at A Stroll Through Life. Every day this week Marty will be sharing six homes with sweet summer style. I was honored to be asked to join in on the fun this Wednesday. One of the projects that I did to summarize my front room was to create fun and vibrant watercolor inspired pillow covers. They are fairly quick and inexpensive to make and you can customize them to your exact color décor. You will need: Sharpie markers in the colors ... View the Post
Learning to Love a Wonky Window
Ah Storybook Cottage. Such an apt name for this charmer. I’ve now learned that the word “charm” can cover a multitude of housing sins. At times, as I roam from room to room, I feel a bit like “The Crooked Man” from Mother Goose. Except that I don’t have a crooked cat but my doxie, Rudi, does have a crooked ear that never lays flat. Recently, we put in new countertops and a subway tile backsplash in the kitchen. (More photos to be shared shortly.) In our short time living here we have ... View the Post
Bits of Bliss – Beadboard and Smocked Curtains

The height combined with the width of the washing machine and dryer makes it a bit difficult to reach.Since I do laundry about every other day I wanted easy access to the soap, bleach and softener I use. I found this tray at ... View the Post
An Inexpensive Drying Rack for the Laundry Room
When we lived in Phoenix I had a simple outdoor clothesline that I used regularly to dry delicate linens. Here in Texas, given the inclement weather, I needed an indoor solution. An Inexpensive Drying Rack for the Laundry Room. An Inexpensive Drying Rack for the Laundry Room A look back at this wall when we first moved in last October shows it was covered in a wire shelving rack that was barely hanging on. It was taken down, the walls were massively patched and received three coats ... View the Post
A Pretty Storage Solution for an Iron and Ironing Board
At Storybook Cottage I have tried to make the most of the small space our pantry/utility room offered by adding storage wherever I could. The wall where our pantry closet is located is a mere 2 feet wide. It seemed perfect for A Pretty Storage Solution for an Iron and Ironing Board. A Pretty Storage Solution for an Iron and Ironing Board None of the ready-made options appealed to me. A quick spin on Pinterest showed attractive ways to hang an ironing board. But what about the ... View the Post
