An Everyday Spring Tablescape

Right off of the kitchen there is a little nook that our family enjoys the majority of our meals. It is a bright sunny spot that looks out onto the pool. I found the table at a discount store a few years ago. I am thinking about painting the thrifted antique bentwood chairs to match the table legs. What do you think? In an effort to be more environmentally conscience we use washable placemats and napkins. They are changed out every Saturday. (Unless there is an episode of spilt milk.) I adore ... View the Post

A $15 Front Porch Makeover

The week started out with a 39 degree low but it now appears that spring has arrived in sunny Phoenix. On the front porch I cleared off all of the winter décor and hosed everything down. The red cushions that looked so cheery all through the holidays now appear tired and faded. The desert sun does a number on outdoor fabric even in the winter. I plan on giving the bistro set a paint update before summer arrives. Dark bronze probably, although I am tempted by the thought of turquoise. ... View the Post

A $7 Springtime Wreath Made In Under 30 Minutes

After the winter pom-pom wreath took me like 300 hours to make I wanted something quick and easy for the front door this spring. As you know I also really love inexpensive creations. This wreath hit it out of the ballpark on both counts. Here is how I made A $7 Springtime Wreath Made In Under 30 Minutes. A $7 Springtime Wreath Made In Under 30 Minutes I began with a wire frame I purchased at Joann’s for 50% off. The burlap garland was found at Michael’s and I used a 40% coupon. The total ... All Things Irish Linen

Irish linen is considered by many to be the finest linen in the world. Linen is the oldest fabric known to man. Once again we have the Egyptians to thank for its creation. Today linen is a well-known export from Ireland. Most of the flax fiber from which linen is created from comes from France, the Netherlands, and Belgium. In order for linen fabric to be considered true Irish linen and carry the Guild trademark, the yarn must be woven into cloth in Ireland only. All Things Irish ... View the Post

Thatched Roof Cottages

From the bottom of our hearts, the entire family thanks you for kindness, love and support. While I take time with my family please enjoy this post from the DTA March 2008 archives. Thatching is a process of covering a roof with dried vegetation such as heather and straw. It is perhaps the oldest form of roofing material. Thatching in Ireland has gone on for over 9,000 years. Originally it was used by those with less financial means. Thatching today is quite expensive due to its labor ... View the Post

Lolly, Lolly, Lolly Get Your Candy Here!

Yes, I am of the School House Rock generation. (Smile) When I was creating the banner for my recent tablescape I ended up not using the extra circular images that Moselle generously added. But I can’t let a good thing go to waste so I enlisted Sweet Boy’s help and he used a circular paper punch on these cute images. Additional images from Moselle can be found HERE. We were trying to think of how we could use them in a craft or treat for his classmates. I remembered that I had some ... View the Post
