This project has been in the works for awhile. You might recall that back in January I shared Sweet Guy’s travel themed bedroom. I mentioned that he had outgrown the bed with the lovely antique pine headboard and needed something bigger. About the same time the Fashionista returned home as we put the condo that she was living in on the market. So we had no room for the guest room bed I had found a few years ago on Craiglist. It was a lovely frame that had come with a really bad white ... View the Post
Updating Thrift Store Art
I’ve been busy transforming free and thrift store art to create a nautical themed gallery wall in my hallway. It’s coming along pretty well and I am in the home stretch. Do you want to see how dated they looked before? Keep reading! Over two years ago I had hit the thrift store jackpot when I came upon an entire cache of vintage French and Italian metal frames for mere pennies. I used a few of the frames on my entry way gallery wall. As well as creating a bit of lampshade ... View the Post
Delicious Greek Pasta Salad
It’s already getting so warm in Phoenix that I hesitate to turn my oven on. This recipe is a cool family favorite and so easy to make. The recipe is as follows: I box of cooked orzo pasta ( I use Barilla.) 1 deseeded and chopped English Cucumber (although a regular cuke will do in a pinch) 2 cups halved cherry tomatoes (or 2 regular tomatoes deseeded and chopped) 1/2 cup chopped purple onion 1/3 cup thinly sliced fresh basil 1 1/2 cups crumbled feta cheese (more or less per your ... Perfect for a Spring Brunch~ Julia’s Quiche Aux Oignons
As my children are now older I have found myself transitioning from egg hunts to really focusing on Easter itself. In this way we celebrate not just one day, but the entire Holy week. On Palm Sunday I went and got sprinkle donuts in spring colors. I never do this and my kids were thrilled. This morning I arose early to make Julia Child’s Quiche Aux Oignons (Onion Quiche). I used leeks which I love dearly and they feel like spring to me. You can find Julia’s original recipe HERE. I made ... View the Post
No More Towels On The Bathroom Floor!
Perhaps like many of you my guest bathroom also doubles as my 12 year old son’s bathroom. It’s a situation that strikes fear in the hearts of mothers everywhere. One of the reasons why is that a large percentage of boys are physically unable to hang their bathroom towels up on a towel bar, my son included. Let me just say that his towels were never draped beautifully over the tub as shown in the image below. They were more likely to end up in a soggy pile on the floor. Keep reading to see ... A Cheerful Spring Wreath for our Nest
Up until last Monday there was still a Valentine themed wreath hanging on our front door. It has high time for an update. I had transformed our entry on Monday using shades of turquoise, yellow and purple plants so I wanted something that would coordinate. I also didn’t want to have to buy anything so I shopped the house. Keep reading to see what I came up with. This wreath puts a song in my heart. Around the house I collected a round wicker charger I had purchased in Germany ... View the Post
