Boy Scout Council Building In Phoenix

I recently went to the Boy Scout Council Building In Phoenix. It is actually quite nice. For my regular readers here is a quiz: What style is the building? :)  The interior courtyard with a lovely fountain. Another view of the courtyard. The Boy Scout fleur de lys emblem set into the concrete walkway. The gardeners were there pulling out the summer flowers and replacing them with fall plantings. I am sure this will be quite a lovely spot when they are finished. Inside I ... View the Post

Argh Matey Join Me For A Pirate Party

Sweet Boy turns seven today. It is not unusual for him to be dressed like this while watching Peter Pan. He loves the pirates. Argh Matey Join Me For A Pirate Party. Argh Matey Join Me For A Pirate Party When I found the following cards on clearance for $1 it shivered me timbers and a theme was born. We boiled a bunch of pirate fingers (hot dogs) to serve out on the patio. The table was laden with jewels, shells and pirate paraphernalia. A truly motley crew. Fellow buccaneers ... View the Post

My Dad

Today a great man passed away. My Dad. His name was Norman C. Phillips. Not only was he a great man, he was a great dad. My Dad He was also a very brave man. Thirty-two years ago he married my mother, Nadine. Did I mention that she had six children? He also had two sons, so that meant eight kids total. That is what I call love. He loved big band music and was a fantastic dancer. Here he is cutting a rug with my sister in law Lisa at my wedding. My dad was one of the original ... View the Post

Over The River and Through The Woods

Yes, indeed I traveled Over The River and Through The Woods to arrive at my Grandmother's home. She is near Grand Rapids. Judy Garland fans know that this is the birthplace of the beloved "Dorothy". It is a lovely spot in America if you ever get the chance to visit.  Here are my lovely grandmother and I. She has the sweetest twinkling blue eyes. Over The River and Through The Woods This picture is one of my favorites. It hangs over my grandmother's sofa. She acquired this picture when ... View the Post

Happy Father’s Day!

Happy Father's Day! to the man with the gentlest hands that I have ever known. Happy Father's Day! A man who is always willing to dress up in one costume or another to please the family. A guy who dons matching father and son ensembles without complaint. A father who is the number one supporter of dreams. A dad who forgives the dog for eating things he shouldn't. A guy who truly is the life of the party. A gentleman willing to go to the ends of the earth if required. ... View the Post

The Next Jackson Pollock

Hello friends! As you may know, many schools have had to discontinue art due to budget cuts. This saddens me deeply. As a girl, art period was always my favorite time of the day. I have no doubt that it contributed immensely to my chosen profession of interior design. In Arizona, they have a program called Art Masterpiece which provides parents the opportunity to present art to their children's class. I didn't hesitate to volunteer. The biggest challenge for me is coming up with projects ... View the Post
