2015 There’s No Place Like Home Ornament

Every year I try to create a series of limited edition Christmas ornaments in which a large portion of the proceeds goes to charity. 2015 There’s No Place Like Home Ornament. 2015 There’s No Place Like Home Ornament This year is no exception and the theme for 2015 is “There is no place like home.” For myself, Christmas means home and family. But I know that for some a home is a far off dream. This year's charities are: Boys Town-Saving Children and Healing Families. Boys Town ... View the Post

Sometimes It’s Ok To Quit

Last week I had had enough. Sometimes It’s Ok To Quit. Sometimes It’s Ok To Quit After an entire year of working on this house, countless college classes, and a stream of steady houseguests my darling hubby thought it was time for us to enjoy a weekend getaway. He planned a 3 day trip to San Antonio. Wonderful right? Except that I had TREMENDOUS anxiety to the point of suffering from insomnia the week prior to the trip. The source of my angst was one of my college classes. I had SO looked ... View the Post

Brick Walls and a Baby

Recently one of my college instructors wanted us to watch/listen to Randy Pausch’s The Last Lecture. I had watched this lecture seven years ago when it was an internet sensation. However, I needed a refresher viewing since it was linked to an assignment. It led to Brick Walls and a Baby. So many things he said were pure gold. A few outstanding gems are: “We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand.” “It's not how hard you hit. It's how hard you get hit...and keep moving ... View the Post

Court of Honor Our guy was called up and recognized for being the only scout to attend the Twin Arrows Leadership Camp this past summer. He was one of two boys to achieve the Star rank. Next up will be the Life rank followed by the coveted Eagle. We are ALMOST there! In addition to the scout being awarded a rank patch that ... View the Post

Bits of Bliss Wiser

Yesterday I turned another year older. Here is Bits of Bliss Wiser. Bits of Bliss Wiser As a whole, a birthday can be a traumatic experience for a woman. It’s no secret that our society values YOUTH. But a few years ago I decided to be really HAPPY about birthdays. I don’t just enjoy one day. Birthday WEEK is bliss for me. I do this because there are people who would give anything for just one more. My own dad had just 21 birthdays. My mom saw only 26 years. Together that is just 47 ... View the Post

Turning Point

Recently I dropped Sweet Guy off for a one-week long intensive leadership training camp. In a major Boy Scout Turning Point he earned a coveted bolo cord. Turning Point The Twin Arrows leadership development course is put on by the Longhorn Council of the Boy Scouts of America. It draws upon the most current leadership models used by corporate America, academic circles, and successful outdoor leadership organizations throughout the country. To attend the camp a scout must hold a ... View the Post
