Decor To Adore Spring Home Tour 2017

A warm “Welcome to Storybook Cottage”. I am so glad you are visiting the Decor To Adore Spring Home Tour 2017 It is so nice to be participating in the week-long Spring Home Tours hosted by my dear friend Marty from A Stroll Thru Life. I just love how she creates such a gorgeous home on a thrifty budget. Decor To Adore Spring Home Tour 2017 The mantel décor is often changed with the seasons at Storybook Cottage and this spring is no exception. My daughter found this real bird’s nest ... Woodworking Wednesdays A Little Wooden Caddy

Recently, Mr. Decor made me several wooden caddies ~ totes ~ boxes… however, you would like to refer to these gems. Just like his garden bench, they were made from the reclaimed wood from an old section of fencing we had taken down. Woodworking Wednesdays A Little Wooden Caddy. Woodworking Wednesdays A Little Wooden Caddy The boxes were originally created to display a few of the dolls my Grandma Jingles had restored. These particular dolls were very similar to those mentioned in the ... View the Post

What’s Brightening My Day Vol. III

I have been focusing on appreciating good things no matter how small and I thought I would share the happiness with you. This past week I had a much-needed break from school and did some major spring cleaning and decorating. What’s Brightening My Day Vol. III. My color palette was determined by these amazing spring green candles from Ikea. You cannot beat the price and they are available in tapers too. I also like the fact that they are unscented which is perfect for the dining table. ... View the Post

A Cabinet of Curiosities

I have become bored with the green hutch in my living room. But I won’t be tossing it aside. Rather, it is time to reinvent or reimagine the piece in an entirely new way. Anita, from Cedar Hill Farmhouse, helped to lead the inspiration for me to create a cabinet of curiosities. A Cabinet of Curiosities The hutch has simply been holding dishes. It’s what a good majority of hutches/china cabinets do. But I began to think about making it into something more. Maybe like a cabinet ... View the Post

What’s Brightening My Day Right Now Vol. II

Right now I am focusing on being thankful for even the littlest of things. Here’s What’s Brightening My Day Right Now Vol. II. My dear friend Nicola sent me three lovely old glass molds. While I will eventually use them for their intended purpose, for now, they make a pretty vignette that helps keep our cut organic dill fresh.   What’s Brightening My Day Right Now Vol. II Nicola and her husband Patrick were dear mates of Mr. Decor’s while he was stationed in England. I, of course, ... View the Post

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day! Because of a busy schedule this year I created small, simple vignettes here at Storybook Cottage. I used Grandma Jingles’ collection of antique Valentines and ostrich feathers. Happy Valentine’s Day! However, some groupings were accented with the pearl hearts that I shared yesterday. The entire family will enjoy the holiday with a simple pasta dinner. We will probably enjoy it in the cozy kitchen. How will you celebrate? Laura ... View the Post
