Hello sweet friends. I love Fridays here at DTA. It is the day I lift up the goodness that others create. Today I encourage you to smile at a stranger. Here’s to Friday Favorites Kind Words.
Winter Gardening
Earlier this week my grocery store had some lovely little hyacinths blooms nestled in glass jars. If you are in need of some floral winter cheer this post shares how to easily force bulbs.
Chicken and Dumplings
I have always loved chicken and dumplings. This recipe uses gluten free pancake mix and I can’t wait to try it!
Romantic Centerpiece
Simply lovely English garden table decor and a sweet printable are featured in this post by Nina Hendrick.
Speaking of Jane Austen
What I’m watching tonight: Jane Austen’s House is presenting a FREE YouTube talk with award-winning costume designer Dinah Collin. Collin is best-known for creating the beautiful costumes worn in the 1995 BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. The video was shot in the beautiful Drawing Room at Jane Austen’s House.
Happy Hearts
This next week I plan on handcrafting a few homemade Valentine’s to share with those I love. This tutorial for Botanical Imprint Clay Hearts would make perfect little love tokens.
A Patchwork Home
Awhile back I saw an Instagram post by Amy Sedaris in which she featured her patchworked couch. Since then I’ve started to see more and more well loved couches sporting visable mending using lace scraps, embroidery and more. This makes my heart so happy. Let’s have more repairs and less tossing into the landfill. This completely charming home tour has the coziest couch that features a bit of patchwork pizazz.
In Case You Missed It
Earlier this week I joined forces with eight talented ladies to share some repurposed Valentine decor. Using previous crafts I created a new love-filled shadowbox.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Kari @ Me and My Captain says
Thanks for sharing Laura… I’m looking into your tea cozy…My tea pot is like I am…always cold!
I also like the clay hearts, they are so cute . I’m sure the “recipe” calls for baking in the oven at some point, which should also be cozy and warm.
Have a great week-end.
