Cottage Core Spring Decor

Happy Friday sweet friends! Do you have any lovely weekend plans? Perhaps you will create some Cottage Core Spring Decor.

Cottage Core Spring Decor

Cottage Core Spring Decor

My daughter Lou has recently returned home. She helped me create some cottage-inspired spring decor by transforming some old paper mache eggs.

TIP: In this week’s video, we talk about where to source similar eggs and flowers.

Begin by painting the eggs a base coat of white. Then add a color of your choosing and top with a pearl finish.

Next, select your blooms. We repurposed vintage flowers but new flowers work well too!

TIP: If your vintage blooms have fallen flat you can easily revive them.

Boil a pot of water.

With a pair of tongs hold the blossom over the steam for a minute or two.

Refluff and allow to dry.

Add lace, ribbon, or other trim around the base of the egg if desired.

We used a glue gun to attach the trim. If you are crafting with kids craft glue works well too. It just takes a bit longer to dry.

Begin to layer on the blooms. I tend to start with a base of leaves.

Keep adding on elements until you are satisfied. Trinkets, charms, berries, and more can be tucked in.

Vintage Floral Eggs

This craft is a perfect way to repurpose many vintage elements. Buttons, trim, scraps of fabric. Just use your imagination!

Many thanks to all who have sent good thoughts and lovely prayers to Lou as she recovers from Covid. She is growing stronger every day.

We hope you enjoy this week’s video which goes into creating the eggs on a much deeper level.

I’ll see you Sunday!

What’s more beautiful in this post? The gorgeous eggs (and your very clear instructions — thanks!) or your beautiful Lou. It’s a real toss-up because both speak to the joy of spring and renewal. I’m so glad she is recovering — I’m sure it is a long haul (not to be confused with Long hauler but maybe so?) but I’m glad she is home where she can be wrapped in love while healing. And creating is good for the heart and soul.. These are so elegant and lovely. Perfection.

These are absolutely gorgeous. What a fun project. You two are so talented. I am so thrilled that Lou is doing better, such a special answer to prayer.

I hope Lou gets well quickly. I’m sure being home with her loving parents will be a help.

Must keep this in mind for a future project! I think I have some styrofoam eggs hanging around somewhere….

These eggs are so beautiful, Laura! Prayers for Lou’s complete recovery. My friend had Covid in October and is just now beginning to feel her old self. Time is the healer. Happy Spring! ~ carol
