Hello sweet friends! Welcome to this month’s Budget-Friendly Recipes Hop hosted by my dear friend Marty of A Stroll Thru Life. If you are new to Decor To Adore may I say “Welcome!” Today I am sharing French Toast Bake With Cream Cheese Drizzle. This recipe is SO good. It’s perfect for Easter brunch or a Mother’s Day tea.
French Toast Bake With Cream Cheese Drizzle
There is a recipe card at the end of this post for your convenience.
Here are the simple ingredients:
For the French toast
- 8 slices of bread (sourdough, challah, brioche, or Italian)
- 4 large eggs
- 3/4 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 cups of fresh berries (strawberry, blueberry, raspberry, blackberry)
- Optional: 1/3 cup of pecan pieces and orange zest
For the Cream Cheese Drizzle:
- 2 oz cream cheese at room temperature
- ¼ cup powdered/confectioners sugar
- ¼ tsp vanilla extract
- 2 ½ tbsp whole milk
INSTRUCTIONS
-
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar., cream, vanilla, and cinnamon. Optional: add orange zest.
- Cut the bread loaf into 1” cubes and add them to the egg mixture. Stir gently to thoroughly coat the bread. Transfer the contents to a 8 x 8 pan or round pie dish.
- Sprinkle the top with nuts if desired. Bake at 350˚F for 30 minutes or until the top is browned and crispy.
- While dish bakes prepare the cream cheese drizzle. Beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add in the powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk.
- Mix until a drizzle consistency is reached. Add milk as needed.
- Drizzle the cream cheese mixture over the warm bread. Top with berries and serve.
NOTES
The dish may be prepared in advance using steps one and two then covered and refrigerated. Follow the remaining steps within 24 hours.
Maple syrup can be used instead of the cream cheese drizzle.
If you are lucky to have leftovers they are delicious warm or cold. You can reheat by covering the dish with aluminum foil and baking at 350˚ F for 10 minutes or until warmed through.

This is not only a great recipe (pinned!), but a beautiful presentation, Laura. Mr. P. loves sweets and often orders French toast at Cracker Barrel. I need to surprise him with this. He would love it!
