Hello my bosom friend. I am so glad that you have come to call. Today I will be sharing an Anne Of Green Gables Birthday Dinner in the most poetical of fashion.

The Inspiration
For this warm August birthday dinner inspirtation was found at the Sunday school picnic hosted by The Barry’s.

Even though the event is a casual outdoor affair all the best china is laid out.

Tables are draped with fabric in shades of pink and white.
Flowers are arranged in cut crystal vases.

The Tablesetting
Let me welcome you to the party dear kindred spirits.

The table was set with an antique white tablecloth and my great grandmothers pink damask napkins.

Grandma Mary’s crystal glasses sparkle and shine.

The summer bouquet features blooms of roses, daisies and stock in lovely soft shades.

Each place setting features a small journal, pencil, bookmark and a place card.

You can save these bookmarks by right clicking. Then simply print them out in the size you desire.

Other party favors included wax sachets scented with rose oil. They were placed by the front door as the scent was quite heavy.
Let’s take a look at the buffet.
Anne Of Green Gables Birthday Dinner
Many wonderful recipes can be found in the Anne of Green Gables Cookbook. I have had my copy for over 30 years. You can find a newer edition HERE.
I wanted the sideboard to be laden with all manner of delights.

The Edwardians loved to display food in heavy crystal with food dished up with silver serving pieces.

Of course there MUST be raspberry cordial. Anne of Green Gables: Chapter 16
As well as lemonade. Anne’s Golden Picnic Anne of Avonlea: Chapter 13 .

Edible blossoms were placed next to the drinks for a whimsical touch.

The layer cake was made with whipped cream and red jelly. Anne of Green Gables: Chapter 21. No lineament was added!

The yummiest summer cherries and salt water taffy were favorites of Anne’s.

My husband’s Aunt Lolly gifted me these wonderful pieces of Royal Doulton Archives Piper Platinum. The design is based on historical artwork from the early 1900s. Which is the perfect time frame for the Edwardian era. The dazzling details feature a deep border of intricate lattice work and small heraldic motifs accented with a rich platinum trim. It is named after Enoch Piper, an artist who worked in the Royal Doulton design studio during the early 20th century.

Dinner is served!
Roasted Chicken is mentioned numerous times throughout the books. Two such occasions were Miss Lavender’s Tea Party from Anne of Avonlea: Chapter 21 and A Bang-Up Dinner for Dr. Lennox Carter Anne of Windy Poplars: Chapters 9 & 10
The delicious sourdough bread is a nod to Jem’s Rainbow Valley Feast Rainbow Valley: Chapter 3.

For the green beans almondine and twice baked potatoes I was inspired by Anne’s Menu for Mrs. Charlotte E. Morgan mentioned in Anne of Avonlea: Chapter 16.

Kindred Spirits
My son and his new bride arrived with a clipping from one of their lovely plants. I love how much fun they are having creating their new home.

My girls love Anne like I do. Lou is wearing a me made dress of pink dotted Swiss. Megan was happy to wear my eighth grade graduation dress.

Ponyboy and Gracie are all smiles.

Gracie makes me laugh everyday.

I wish for you a truly magical day filled with joy and happiness.

Have a wonderful weekend,
Laura
