This past Saturday the sun was shining and glorious autumn had arrived. So I took some very much-needed time off. It was the perfect day for A Fall Picnic With Fashionable Friends.

The Georgian picnic is an annual event hosted Dallas Fort Worth Costumers Guild. Attendees are invited to dress in fashions from the Georgian era. This time period spans from 1714 to 1837 and covered the reigns of George I, II, III and IV.

Becky and Liz beautifully showcase how the fashions changed from the mid 18th to early 19th century. 

Liz’s harvest themed bonnet was truly charming. Hopefully she will share how she made it on her website The Pragmatic Costumer.

Dixie is always gorgeously attired. You can see how she created this Regency era open robe gown on her YouTube channel HERE. 

She and I are currently working on a fabulous project that I hope to announce at the beginning of the year.

Samantha made me smile when she said, “I’m not sure I am suited to working era attire. My sister said that I am not Sarah Plain and Tall but Samantha short and fancy.” I think she looked positively charming! 

Everyone is encouraged to bring a dish to share. 

There are so many delicious things to eat!

Christine, Beth and Mary looked amazing in their 18th century attire! Angela’s 19th century bonnet was a work of art. 

Tiffany of Stitchin’ Addiction brought some delicious apple tarts created with a recipe from the Jane Austen Cookbook. 

Noskcaj is a talented sewist. He created both his court suit and Mallory’s lovely gown. 

Christy is always up for schenanigans and gleefully accepted the challenge to “Go get in that tree.”

What I Wore

I didn’t have any time to create something new. As most of you know I have been sewing and touring this year in celebration of the Little House 50th Anniversary. So I wore a dress last donned a few years ago when I gave a guest lecture on Georgian Gardening. You can see all the sewing details in THIS POST.
