Hello sweet friends! Can you believe we are welcoming in the first week of June? After several whirlwind days of travel, I am so happy to be back at Storybook Cottage. Here’s to Friday Favorites The Comforts of Home.
Friday Favorites The Comforts of Home
You may have heard that there have been horrendous storms in the south this past week. One of our oak trees dropped a huge branch on Mr. Decor’s truck. I salvaged it to repurpose as backyard decor. This page inspired me.
A Jane Austen Inspired Bathroom
My darling daughter and I have been watching the latest season of Bridgerton. This has once again brought the Regency era to the forefront of my mind. I loved this Jane Austen inspired bathroom.
Mediterranean Bake
I made Mediterranean chicken breast and zucchini bake last night and oh my yum!
Bobbin Decor
Darling bobbin furniture is having a moment. This post shows traditional furniture that has been updated in bright saturated hues.
In Case You Missed It
Over on Instagram I debuted the most recent character added to the Little House costume collection.
Mr. Decor filled his vest pockets with peppermints and made the perfect Nels Oleson.
Coming Up!
I’ll be back on Monday with a summer home tour of Storybook Cottage.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Thank you Laura for all your inspiration.
Your attention to detail on the Little House On the Prairie character clothes is amazing. I looked for a date in Florida but alas there are none…too bad I am still not living in Kansas.
I have to admit I am not a prude but the Captain and I tried to watch the first episode of Bridgerton and there was an opening scene of a…lets say explicit rendezvous at a large Oak tree, leaving out no details. or sounds… LOL… but we continued watching thinking it would get into an actual storyline and not be all about the amorous adventures of a randy young man. But just a little later there was yet another “Lady Chatterly’s Lover” scene, this time in the bedroom of said young man. So we assumed this would be a continuing storyline and not a beautiful period costume piece much like “The Gilded Age” and others. Perhaps we are wrong as I have heard other bloggers say how much they are enjoying Bridgerton. I only comment about this hoping you could give some insight to us.
I have to admit I am tiring of hearing the “F” word in everyday conversations…not just once or maybe even twice but almost every other word of some movies and the other day, a young mother in the Publix market. She wasn’t quiet either as she screamed that word to her little ones.. I try to shield my grandchildren… but feel it is a losing battle and because we as a people accept such things they then become the norm.
OK, I will get off my soap box…forgive me if I am out of line. I know the world does not care what this ole grandmother has to say. LOL. What are your thoughts regarding Bridgerton storylines my friend? Set me straight please.

I am with you about the f words people think they must use in public or on film in order to get a certain rating. Wonderful and interesting shows and movies can still be made without the curse words. Thank you for your insight.

Dear Laura, Beautiful post as always Friend! I do so hope the Little House experience comes to our backyard here in the Dallas area – that would be so much fun to see. I am still amazed about how spot-on you recreated the costumes from the show. How in the world were you able to find the colors of fabric? Did you have to dye Miss Beadle’s skirt? It is just the shade I remember from the show. I can imagine how much fun it has been for you to get to know Dean Butler and Alison Arngrim a little more personally. Are you still just pinching your self? I hope you are healing at a smooth pace from your injuries.

Hi Laura, I would love to paint my two spool tables (made from actual wooden thread spools) the same lovely color of green as in the bobbin table picture. Yesterday, I was in a small family diner in a little town in west-central Illinois and two men were sitting in a booth behind me. They had a conversation between themselves with one man explaining to the other who Michael Landin was. The explainer mentioned every movie and tv show that Michael Landin was a big part of, but he never said, “Little House on the Prairie!” I could hardly contain myself but didn’t want to advertise that I was listening to their conversation. I stood up to leave and walked past just as the explainer saying, “You really don’t know who Michael Landin is?” He then said, ” I Was a Teenage Werewolf?”
