Hello sweet friends! Today kicks off the annual Summer Home Tours hosted by my dear friend Marty of A Stroll Thru Life. You can tour 16 homes over 4 days. Today I will be sharing our Summer Home Tour 2024. If you are coming over from My Thrift Store Addiction let me say, “Welcome to Storybook Cottage!” Wasn’t Cecilia’s home full of delightful Southern Charm?
Summer Home Tour 2024
For this year’s summer home tour, I wanted a very clean and cool look to the decor.
There are layers of textured neutrals with pops of cool blue and turquoise accents.
Living in the rather warm south this color palette tricks my mind into keeping cool.
I had hoped to have all new flooring installed in the open concept areas. This is why the sunroom is currently empty.
I got a bit sidetracked when I fell and broke my jaw on Mother’s Day. But I am happy to say that the updates are now once again underway.
You can read about the upcoming plans for the sunroom HERE.
Almost all the furnishings planned for this space are repurposed or have been found for free.
Why a 19th century theme?
This year marks the 50th anniverry of the Little House on the Prairie television show. It has been a dream come true to have been selected as the sewist tasked with recreating some of the iconic costumes.
The Mantel
Mr. Decor loves the nautical touches on this years mantel.
He grew up living along the Panama Canal and now is a volunteer with the Coast Guard Auxillary. Boats are in his blood!
His family now resides primarily in Florida. When we vacation there we often bring home various shells or pieces of driftwood.
Such collections always bring a smile to our hearts from wonderful memories.
Let’s head over to the dining area.
Pull Up A Chair
Our antique dining table extends to seat 10 comfortably. But most meals are enjoyed by our family of four.
The newest update in this area is the painting.
The beautiful blues and greens in this modern marsh scene transports us back to a lovely trip we took to Galveston.
The marshes at Galveston Island State Park change with the tide.
The table decor features additional found shells.
As well as hand picked blooms from our garden.
Over on the sideboard is Grandma Joyce’s sea nymph. This treasure was brought home from a trip to Italy that she took in the 1960s.
I hope you have enjoyed this year’s summer home tour.
I’ll be back on Thursday with a very special Little House-themed post.

Laura,
Your home is just lovely for summer. I agree with your hubby, the nautical touches are perfect. So glad to hear that you are recovering from the fall. That must have been horrible.

I love how your home keeps changing and getting better and better. You have truly created a warm and inviting space for your family. Love the soft aqua coastal theme and the new painting is stunning. Thanks so much for joining the tour again this season.

Laura, you do blues and aquas so beautifully. That marsh painting is really gorgeous. So glad you’re feeling better and making headway after your accident. Take care and enjoy your summer!

I love the added colors of aqua, blue, and green. Everything looks so happy and vibrant. Perfect for a summer home. I’m especially excited to see you were able to get some decorating done after having such a terrible fall. Loved the photo of little Gracie too. I don’t know many people that take their pups on vacation so it warms my heart. Happy summer friend. Stay cool! Bleh, the humidity!

It’s beautiful, Laura. Summery and I love the nautical and beachy touches. The new painting is great (but the mantel painting is still my favorite!)!

Laura, it’s so good to see you back in full force. The painting on the mantel just screams summer – both the colors and the scene. Love your blue check napkins and starfish on the dining room table. Enjoy your summer.
