Hello sweet friends. It’s been a few years since I wrote a post that truly shares my appreciation for our service men and women. Here’s to Friday Favorites Veterans Day.
Friday Favorites Veterans Day
I showed this lovely list to my favorite veteran and he said it was wonderful.
What I’m Watching
It’s no secret that I am a PBS junkie. The Mr. and I are currently watching season 2 of World On Fire. This WWII drama follows the intertwined lives of ordinary people across Europe. In my opinion, it is a show best suited to those over 14 years old. But another winner from Masterpiece.
Baked Butter Pecan French Toast
Mr. Decor has requested Baked Butter Pecan French Toast for his Veteran’s Day breakfast.
History Of The Bomber Jacket
It’s a good thing that you can prepare the French toast overnight because we’ll be up bright and early to head to a Veteran’s Day parade. I’ll be in the crowd waving to Mr. Decor who is participating. I shared the bright red 1940s bomber jacket and patriotic dress I’ll be wearing yesterday.
The Home Front
After the parade we plan on heading over to Aviation Discovery Fest (Wings Over Dallas). The Womens Vintage Society of Dallas will once again have a WWII home front exhibit that is just amazing!
Eisenhower’s Birthplace
Just a little over an hour away from Storybook Cottage is a charming little farmhouse. It is the birthplace of President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
Eisenhower commanded the Allied Forces landing in North Africa in November 1942 and on D-Day, June 6, 1944.
President Eisenhower was born in this charming farmhouse on October 14, 1890.
His parents, David and Ida, rented this home from 1889 until 1892.
The house was purchased by the city in 1946 and has been painstakingly decorated to what it perhaps would have looked like in the 1890s.
Throughout the rooms placards share stories about Ike’s time at the home.
I hope you have enjoyed this special edition of Friday Favorites.
I’ll be back on Tuesday with a very special Thanksgiving decor post.

Laura, I’m late viewing this post but I immensely enjoyed learning of your activities on Veterans Day and seeing the historical information about the places near you. I see the bed at the Eisenhower house is not perfectly made as I would have expected but I love that! I wonder if it was to give it more of a humanly not perfect touch. This blog is fabulous as are you and Mr. Decor! I started reading your Thanksgiving blog already. Love you and thanks for your inspiration and education!
