Hello sweet friends! I hope you are enjoying a wonderful weekend. I am so happy to be sharing some truly inspiring decor, crafts and recipes today in Sunday Smiles 113.
A Homespun Autumn
I loved the ideas for natural seasonal decorating in this lovely post.
Mulberry House
I adore this charming Georgian dwelling. Cozy exudes in every corner.
You can also find My Mulberry House on Instagram.
Edible Works of Art
The new trend where you decorate focaccia dough with fresh vegetables and herbs to make beautiful edible art absolutely captivates me!
A Lovely Victorian Home
After seeing this charming home, particularly the bathroom, I am now tempted to make a few changes at Storybook Cottage.

It’s that time of year that Mr. Decor loathes. Simultaneously all sixteen oak trees on our property will begin dropping their leaves. Perhaps he should try artistic leaf raking.
In Case You Missed It
It was a busy week on DTA.
A Fun Retro Kitchen Print Dress
Where’s The October Costume Extravaganza?
Usually by now I have announced on DTA what the theme is for this year’s costume.
It’s a bit tricky because I am creating two very completely different genres.
As you may recall Sweet Guy’s fiancée and her family host an amazing Halloween party every year. This year’s theme is STAR WARS. So far I’ve completed a Han Solo ensemble for Sweet Guy as well as a wise Obi-Wan Kenobi garment for Mr. Decor. I’ve ran out of time to create something for myself so I’ll be borrowing an amazing costume from my friend Ginger.
All of the Star Wars looks will be revealed at the very end of the month.
As for the second set of costumes I needed something for Mr. Decor and myself to wear to the upcoming Victorian Weekend as well as a special Little House event coming to the National Cowgirl Museum on December 7th. I took a poll on Instagram as to what I should make.
The results, as well as all of the historical research, will be featured in next Friday’s post and YouTube video. The costume reveal will be on October 27th.
Other Projects Elsewhere
I also shared some tote bags I made from fabric scraps on Instagram.
The old cow feed sack is my favorite!
Health and Wellness
Last weekend we celebrated Sweet Guy’s birthday and parents weekend at his university. I shared some photos on IG and many of you sent me messages of concern that I was too thin.
First off, thank you so much for caring.
I have indeed lost weight since I started the Auto Immune Protocol (AIP) diet for my Lupus back in July. It was bound to happen given that I have not eaten any grains, dairy or processed/fast food in two months.
I am also taking an exercise class (it varies between Yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi) 3 days a week in addition to walking Gracie everyday.
There have been some improvements. I am sleeping better. I now only experience neuropathy in my feet and hands when I am out in the heat for an extended period of time.
Unfortunately, there is still constant pain in all of my joints.
But, I am not giving up hope. Many people need to be on the diet for 3-6 months before seeing improvement.
However, I have decided to move towards more of a Paleo diet and slowly reintroduce some foods such as eggs and some nuts for more protein. I also will be slowly adding in brown rice and whole oats as I need the carbohydrates to assist with my severe brain fog due to such a massive reduction in carbs. Healthy carbs are good and have their place in a well balanced diet.
There will be special occasions, but I know that I will primarily need to remain gluten and dairy free for the rest of my life.
You’ll also find me with a hat or parasol if I am outside.
I’ll see you on Tuesday!

I applaud you Laura for following the diet. Gluten is my worst offender., and I know within just a few minutes of consuming it. I think you look wonderful and I know you feel so much better. Changing the diet a bit will help you with evening out weight wise. I love your bustled LIW dress. Your sewing skills are amazing. I’ll be showing my husband your yard racking plan. He too deals with it each fall. Happy Sunday!
