Hello sweet friends! Welcome to the September edition of the Pinterest Challenge. This monthly event is hosted by the fabulous Cindy of County Road 407. If you are coming over from Our Southern Home let me say, “Welcome to Storybook Cottage”. I was so inspired by Christy’s decor. Today’s post here on DTA features A French Inspired Fall Vignette.
This month the challenge theme was to create a Fall Vignette. Our inspiration photo comes from The Cottage Journal.
The lovely image features:
- A French confit pot
- Books
- Warm autumnal accents
Creating A French Inspired Fall Vignette
I adore confit pots. This challenge had me searching for the very first post that I featured them. It was way back in 2010. I wrote about a truly beautiful store, Antiques De Provence, located on Royal Street in the French Quarter. This was where I bought my first pot. The others have come from various trips to France.
The 2010 photo that inspired my love.
As it is still rather warm here I set up a vignette that works with the fall mulberry color palette I recently shared.
It features confit pots, books, and other elements.
The Dining Area
I couldn’t resist creating an early autumnal tablescape as well.
I’m hoping to dry these lush hydrangea blooms.
Other than the flowers, nothing new was purchased to create the vignettes.
I’m a big believer in investing in classic pieces that you can use over and over.
I’ll leave you with a smile.
My husband likes to keep me grounded by saying things like “Oh I see your playing with your duck fat pots again.”
Yes, leave it to the French to create such chic fat jars.
Up next is DIY Beautify. You will love Cindy’s fall vignette.
I’ll be back on Thursday with two cozy Colonial homes.

As usual your vignettes are stunning. I love your beautifu confit pots. You do have some really pretty ones and such a treasure they are for sure. The console in your entry has a gorgeous vignett and how nice to add to that looks with your tablesetting and your buffet vignette. Great ideas and inspiration.

Laura, what a beautiful interpretation you created with your French confit pots. I love how you paired the gold with the green and the fresh flower. It made a perfect combination.

Those confit pots are stunning in your vignette Laura! I’m mostly jealous that you’ve been to France multiple times lol! I went once, on a student budget, and the most I got to buy was a baguette and bar of chocolate! Hoping Mr DIY takes me back one day! Thanks for the French inspiration and happy Fall!!

Laura, that’s funny! Didn’t know they were for storing duck fat… I was thinking about the Italian olive oil jars, but I guess those are a different shape. Learned two new things about those pots this challenge. 🙂 I do love how you’ve crafted your entry table with the two topiaries and the three confit jars then repurposed them to the dining room. It’s fun to keep moving pieces around! I see the repeat in the handles of each woven placemat, too, to the confit jar handles. Love the French feels!
Happy fall and hopefully our weather will be cooling off soon. Too hot for late September but you’d think I’d be used to that coming from So. Cal, huh? lol!
Many hugs,
Barb 🙂

I just googled what a confit pot was, because I’d never heard of it; guess I’m too american;) Your vignette is so pretty with the gold pottery and I love how you set a lovely tablescape to coordinate! Even the European verbage on the sack; always love to see how you weave the theme into all your styling. Beautiful!
