Hello sweet friends! ! Welcome to the March edition of the Pinterest Challenge. This monthly event is hosted by the fabulous Cindy of County Road 407. If you are coming over from Lora Bloomquist Create and Ponder let me say, “Welcome to Storybook Cottage”. Lora’s spring vignette was so lovely. I adore the scalloped chair. Today’s post here on DTA is all about Springtime Dreams.
The Inspiration
This month’s theme is an Easter chair vignette. Our lovely inspiration photo was created by Anderson and Grant.
The image features:
- An antique cane bottom chair.
- A straw basket.
- Faux flowers.
- A white lacy drape.
- A rabbit.
Springtime Dreams
My version features:
- An antique cane bottom chair.
- A straw basket.
- Real flowers.
- A white lacy drape.
- A rabbit.
The chair was found at a second hand shop years ago for $20. The finish and cane was and is in perfect condition.
The straw tote and bunny I also have had for years. Mrs. Bunny was most recently seen on my spring tour.
I used an antique crocheted tablecloth that was once belonged to Grandma Jingles for the lacy drape.
Indeed the only money spent was on the flowers. However, they came very cheaply from the discount bin at my local grocery store. The store marks down the week’s prior blooms on Mondays.
The arrangement stayed on the porch for two days providing my neighbors, who pass by on daily walks, a happy bit of spring.
It was brought inside when the rain set in.
Desk Set
It was then set up in this corner. So I thought I’d share a little something that I recently purchased to go with my sweet seat.
This solid maple beauty was recently found on Facebook Marketplace for $30. (I’ve been looking for 4 months.) She has dovetail joints and curves I adore.
Now this is where 49% of people might go berserk. She will be getting painted.
Please note that I am not in the habit of painting wood furniture that is in good repair. However, someone at some point tried to give her a blackwash (opposite of whitewash) on her top and front drawer. Then they stopped. So she will get sanded. I shared the color I am thinking of in Sunday’s post.

So smart to use a tablecloth! And I remember seeing that little bunny before. Each time I look at it I think it’s human hair! LOL! I keep waiting to read that you made it out of baby hair from your kids. When I type that out it sounds creepy but I know someone out there has done it. :0 Thanks for joining us. I love your vignette. And I totally get bringing in in from the rain. I had to move mine to the window to photograph it. SO many clouds. Happy Spring and Happy Easter Laura. Glad you joined us this month. pinned

Your crochet tablecloth is such a treasure, Laura! It drapes beautifully in your sweet vignette. And your vintage desk is a score for $40! Lucky you! It will look great with a makeover:)

Laura, I love your new entry table/desk!!! It looks really nice with your cane chair and will be beautiful when painted. I love painted furniture but freak a bit when beginning to paint, lol! I often think I should paint my dresser (really a commode) and have seen many painted. But I digress…. 😉
Your sweet bunny looks lovely sitting on her chair with the roses laid gently into the market basket. The lace tablecloth is a nice addition and they alllook sweet on the chair and on the new desk. Bravo on the new desk!!!
Happy spring and happy painting,
Barb 🙂
