Patchwork Sewing Machine Cover And Mat

Happy Friday sweet friends. We have been experiencing a major ice storm all week long. But this Patchwork Sewing Machine Cover And Mat is oh so cozy!

This is the second project in the #APATCHWORKPROJECT series. It shares ideas on how to use up fabric scraps.

A Patchwork Project

You can view the first project, a teapot cozy, HERE.

Make A Teapot Cozy From Scraps

Simplicity 8532

For this project I used Simplicity 8532, view A. It was a fantastic pattern, perfect for a beginner.

I first created fabric pieces from vintage scraps that I have been hoarding collecting.

Patchwork scraps

Patchwork is always a labor of love.

I sewed the edges of the 5″ x 5″ square first then joined them with long strips of cotton.

It was worth it though because now I have a one of a kind sewing machine cover.

It makes me so happy to see so many fabrics from previous projects coming together.

I even made patchwork ties.

Once the cover is open it doubles as a mat for your sewing machine. This protects your tabletop as well as the machine itself.

Love how your cute fabrics coordinate and that it is a cover and a pad too!

I have a Featherlite, too! I love the colors in the patchwork cover. My favorites! Because of your inspiration, I’m going to make patchwork curtains for a couple of rooms in this new-to-me house. I have so much sewing to do. I have the booklet for my machine, but I can’t get the stitch correct. I wish I had your talent and knowledge.
