Decorating The New Hearth

Hello sweet friends! ! Welcome to the August edition of the Pinterest Challenge. This monthly event is hosted by the amazing Cindy of County Road 407. If you are coming over from The House On Silverado let me say, “Welcome to Storybook Cottage”.  Wasn’t Niky’s fall inspired vignette lovely? Today’s post here on DTA shares Decorating The New Hearth.

Pinterest Challenge - Fall

This Month’s Inspiration Photo

This month’s theme is a Fall Basket. Our inspiration photo was found on Janelle Trinette.

The image features:

  • A basket
  • Fall foliage
  • Wood slices
  • Pumpkins

Decorating The New Hearth

I am still just a bit giddy at the thought of decorating our new hearth. It used to be a horrible orange brick until it was recently transformed with German schmear.

Decorating The New Hearth

Taking cues from our inspiration photo I knew exactly where to place a basket.

I went to 3 stores looking for cattails like those shown in the picture. I had NO LUCK! So I settled for cotton bolls and birch logs.

Decorating The New Hearth

As for the wood slices I think the fireplace insert has got me covered.

But just in case there are a few more logs and slices on the mantel.

log and pumpkin

As well as plenty of pumpkins.

I hope you have enjoyed our fall themed hearth. Up next is Bluesky At Home. You’ll love Carol’s fall basket ideas.

I’ll see you on Thursday. If you love Sense and Sensibility you’ll want to come back!

Love, love, love your beautiful blues and naturals for your autumn decor. This is so calm and serene. I have been going away from the fussy and complicated decorations the last few seasons and loving it. It is less ‘ in your face’ and more ‘Welcome! Please come in for a visit’. Also way less clean up and storage. You must be so pleased with the way your hearth has turned out after all your renovations.

Your taste is always so stylish and right on point. The link to your blog from mine is a pretty image of a china cabinet with white pumpkins, white dishes and delicate book page leaves floating past. I still smile when I see that photo.

Thank you for sharing your lovely home! 🙂

Laura, your basket fits perfectly in your fireplace niche. The birch logs are a great addition. I have some and I love them. Your German schmear treatment is so smart.

The German schmear really makes the painting pop! Love it!

Pretty darn cute with your added log stems on the mantel. I keep forgetting about that photo from Pier One. I have one too and need to find it. Thanks for joining in. BTW, I’m still singing Blessed Assurance. LOL. Not kidding. But there are much much worse things than singing a song for hours and hours.

I love all of your fall decorations Laura! The basket in the niche, the fall tray and the cute logs and pumpkins on the mantel. They look like they are part of the painting! All so pretty and colorful!

Laura, your “new” mantel; it looks wonderful with all the pumpkins and logs!! Your fall basket is lovely, too, with its matching decor. 🙂 And yes, I do love Sense and Sensibility… I’ll try and stop back by Thursday evening. 🙂

Happy fall decorating! And aren’t you just loving this week’s rain and cooler weather… aaaaahhhhh!!!

    Big hugs,
    Barb 🙂

Laura, this is just perfect! Makes me want to scrounge around in our wood pile to find something to create a fall vignette. xoxo

How fun that you get to decorate a new-looking mantel! It looks absolutely storybook-stunning with that amazing art backdrop. The aqua and green pumpkins and log slices are perfectly beautiful.

Your fireplace is so pretty and what a fabulous idea to use tree stumps as pedestals on the mantel. I love it all.
