Hello sweet friends, happy Fashion Friday! Today I have a very fun ensemble created for the Scarborough Renaissance Festival. I wore The Red Coral Sea Hag Renaissance Costume to their recent Legends of the Seas themed weekend. Also included are some photographs of the merry band of mischief mateys that I sailed with.
The Red Coral Sea Hag Renaissance Costume
A big portion of this costume was comprised of garments I had made or worn previously.
You might recognize the hat from A Garden Tea Party.
The blue underskirt came from my Belle costume.
Simplicity 5582
The vest/corset/stays were made from Simplicity 5582. View B was selected for it’s flirty peplum.
This was a great pattern. Very easy to sew up.
If I ever wear the vest again another layer of thick fabric will be added to the interior to smooth out the wrinkles. But since I was going for a Sea Hag look the wrinkles were embraced.
The overskirt was simply netting that I purchased at Hobby Lobby in their seashell craft section. It was embellished with various shells. A rope of cotton cording was ran through the top so it could be tied on.
The best part? I am now using the netting as a summer décor accent piece. You’ll see it on next Wednesday’s home tour.
Check out my first mate!
He’s a good sport with good booty.
Sweet Guy makes a handsome pirate. Many thanks to my friends Dartanyan and Daniel for their loan of some key costume items.
I adore Megan the magical mermaid.
