Hello sweet friends. It has been an incredibly hard week for so many people. In such difficult times hearts can get overwhelmed. I myself felt incredibly weary. But my heart was lifted when on my daily walk with Grace I spied some cheerful daffodils blooming amongst blue pots. Let us spread Sunday Smiles Be The Helper.
Delicious Rainbows
The rainbow is a lovely symbol of hope. These are truly delicious-looking waffles. You could use dollar store clear squeeze bottles for the different colored batter as they can be reused over and over.
Cape Cod Cutie
I love to see others sharing inventive interior design ideas. This 1800s Cape Cod home is absolutely enchanting. Each room is full of collective wonders.
Spread Colorful Joy
These large-scale public murals by Louise Jones known as Ouizi, are absolutely stunning! The abandoned home is my favorite.
Get Organized
This paper organizer is a great beginner woodworking project. It could also be used to store fabric quarters, vintage linens, and more.
Kitchen Islands
For my own kitchen renovation, I have taken a great deal of inspiration from the Magnolia kitchen. Jo shared her design notebook featuring some wonderful kitchen islands.
Sunday Smiles Be The Helper
As a Veteran’s wife, I have sent my husband off on more than one mission not knowing if I would ever see him again. But one occasion stands out amongst all the others. We had only been living in a foreign country for a few months when Mr. Decor once again left during the Kosovo Campaign. Despite the language barrier, I had done my best, on many occasions, to be a good neighbor. One morning I awoke to American Go Home spray-painted on the driveway of our small village home. Sheer terror filled my heart and soul that quite possibly the small Fashionista and I were not safe. While I tried to quiet my mind so that I could make smart decisions I spied my Greek neighbors Barbara and Zambia walking towards the house. They were armed with buckets and scrub brushes. Their battle fatigues were aprons.
Although that moment in time was over 24 years ago I can still remember exactly how I felt. As I sit here typing a huge lump has taken up residence in my throat.
It was an act of kindness that changed everything.
It required no money, just their time and some hard work.
There have been many wonderful articles on how to help the people in the Ukraine. Personally, Mr. Decor and I chose to focus our giving efforts on Ukrainian orphans.
But I have to be honest in that the monetary giving did nothing to ease my anxious heart.
For me when I am feeling that way I find that the best relief is actively seeking out opportunities to be helpful to others.
Much like in seeking gratitude, when we actively look for ways to be the helper situations will clearly present themselves.

Sweet friends, I encourage each of you to Be The Helper this week. If you are homebound please don’t underestimate the power of a phone call, letter, or even positive thoughts and prayers.
I’ll see you Tuesday.

What a sweet act of kindness from those neighbors. I love that quote from Mr. Rogers.

I cannot even imagine how that felt all those years ago but kudos to your neighbors. I know that’s one of the instances God allowed you to experience that molded you into the godly woman you are today. So caring, helpful, gracious and beautiful inside and out. Thanks for the smiles today.
