Hello sweet friends! I hope you are enjoying a wonderful weekend. Texas is once again experiencing below-freezing temperatures. It’s a good time to keep cozy and think warm thoughts. Here’s to Sunday Smiles Searching For Italy.
A Heartfelt Note
At times I go back and forth wondering “Is it ok to post beautiful things when parts of the world are in such turmoil?” Then I consider that when I feel sad or overwhelmed there is comfort in surrounding myself with things that are soothing to me. Perhaps gentle readers you too are here to wrap yourself up in the warmth of things that are lovely and good. During this difficult time, I hope DTA offers you hope of a happier tomorrow.
Easy Lasagne Soup
One of the first things that I want to cook in my new kitchen is this Easy Lasagne Soup. It looks SO delicious!
Italian Dinner Party
This Italian dinner party tablescape is so creative. I adore the napkin rings!
Lovely Lemons
Some of the most delicious lemons grow on the Amalfi Coast of Italy. This darling garland is such a cute craft for the spring.
Limoncello
A few years ago I gave up my daily soda. Missing the bubbles I began drinking sparkling water at lunch. One of my favorite flavors is LimonCello by La Croix. This isn’t sponsored, I just like it. It’s found at most grocery stores.
Sunday Smiles Searching For Italy
A few readers have let me know that it’s been a while since I have given a What To Watch recommendation. The Fashionista and I have been absolutely savoring Stanley Tucci’s Searching For Italy. First off, we adore Stanley. He has such style and charisma! Throw in gorgeous travel destinations and mouth-watering food… well, we just cannot wait for season 2 to start.
Denting My Dignity
On Thursday I announced on social media that I had fallen off of a ladder. Thankfully, I did not break anything on my body. But on the way down my hand hit a mug of tea and the liquid exploded everywhere including onto my open laptop. It is done. Dead. As a writer and photographer, this is challenging in many ways. Yes, I can borrow a computer until I can save a bit of money to purchase another one. But all of the photos I had been taking of various projects (sewing, the remodel, and more) are gone. In addition, any computer I borrow will not have my purchased editing software, etc on it. So future posts are also kind of on hold right now.
This loss also affects my Friday video series for those who were wondering where that content was this past week.
I am able to write Sunday Smiles because it features the creative content of other people. So for the next few weeks, you may only be hearing from me on Sundays.
In the grand scope of the world, this is a very 1st world problem. So I am focusing on what is good. The fall could have been much, much worse. Perhaps my time is better spent right now on other things.
Thank you to the multitude who have sent wonderfully good wishes.
I have the very best readers!

So glad you were not seriously hurt! Love the LimonCello, although we usually drink Sprindrift. Flavored waters are my choice of drink along with Peligrino . xoxo

If you have ICLOUD, your photos are saved. Set up ICLOUD to always save everything. If you have google photos, you will be able to retrieve them. Always save photos on an external drive as an extra safeguard.
Better to be safe than sorry. I worked for a museum and we all learned this lesson after a flood.. So glad that you were not seriously hurt.

Oh Laura, I must have missed the news of your fall. So glad you did not break anything but sorry for your laptop and related losses.
February has been the hardest month I have ever encountered in I don’t know when! I hope things turn around for you in March and can’t wait for the big reveal!

I think we need the lovely and good especially when there is so much turmoil in the world, so thank for for providing something bright and uplifting. Hope you’re continuing to heal well.

Sometimes tragedy, and mishaps, create obstacles and hiccups that cause us to reevaluate and reinvent. Even Pixar had a time they lost their digital content – https://insidethemagic.net/2021/09/toy-story-2-saved-from-deletion-ks1/ I have faith your ladder incident was an advancement in disguise. Keep up the fantastic additions to our planet. Thank you for the beauty you add to the world.

Laura, oh, my heart goes out to you. Put your laptop in a warm place upside down. I once had a laptop reawaken after weeks of drying on a shelf above a heater. It might not work, but you may as well try it. It is going to take some time to get over this. About five years, right? Oh, dang it! It’s like forgetting an original, one-copy, and almost finished novel on a bus. Talk about discouraging. You always think about other people and are so considerate of others’ feelings and I wish there was something I could say to encourage you, but there just isn’t anything to say that would help. I’ll just repeat what I’ve said before, I think you are the hardest working, most creative writer online, and reading your blog, watching the videos is an encouraging refuge for your readers during these stressful times. I think of you as a friend.

I’m thankful you are okay. Praying that your laptop will dry out and “wake up” as someone suggested and that your photos will be all be retrieved. I am so with you. When everything is dismal in the world, a bit of beauty and comfort help soothe.
