Hello sweet friends. It is hard to believe that Easter is almost upon us. I am so thankful to Amber of Follow The Yellow Brick Home for organizing an Easter-themed blog hop to get me motivated. Today I am sharing an easy DIY Fun Fabric Rabbit and Carrots.
Fun Fabric Rabbit and Carrots
If you are coming over from Common Ground thank you so much for visiting. I always get so much inspiration from Debra’s Easter decor.
In creating a new project I had to work with what I had. I am fully committed to staying home. So what I have plenty of is fabric.
This easy craft can be made in under an hour. It is perfect for kids with a bit of adult assistance.
You will need:
- Fabric (even an old shirt or sheet will do). I used scraps I had on hand.
- A needle and thread.
- Scissors
- Ribbon, string or raffia.
- A bunny and carrot pattern template
- Fiberfill (or dryer lint– these are creative times! LOL)
- Glue gun (adults only, kids should use craft glue.)
- Buttons and mini pom-pom if desired.
You can find tons of bunny graphics on Google. Here is the image I used. It was printed at 100% on an 8″ x 10″ size.
Step 1. Cut out your paper template and pin onto your fabric that has been folded in half. Cut out the pattern. This will give you two pieces of bunny fabric.
Step 2. If you are going to sew or embroider on the eyes do this now on just one side of the two fabric pieces.
I cheated and hot glued mine on at the end.
Step 3. Sew the two pieces together just in the head and ear area. This makes stuffing the ears SO much easier.
The blue gingham bunny was sewn all together except for a small section at the bottom near his feet and that was rather difficult.
Use the eraser end of a pencil or other tool to help add in the stuffing.
Step 4. Once the ears are sufficiently stuffed continue to sew the two bunny pieces together. Leave a small opening between the feet open. Stuff until full. Sew the small area between the feet closed.
I used a sewing machine but you can quickly sew a basting stitch or backstitch with a needle and thread. The bunny is rustic. Embrace the primitive!
Hop To It To Finish!
Step 5. Tie a ribbon/string/raffia around the bunny’s neck.
Optional Step 6. Add on button eyes and a pom-pom nose and tail with hot glue.
Step 7. Tuck in a carrot.
Awww Carrots!
For the carrot, I used the pattern by Just One Mom Trying. I printed out a 5″ x 7″ image and then cut the smallest size out.
I then followed the instructions provided by A Confetti Life to construct the carrot.
A Fluffle Of Bunnies
These bunnies are quick to construct and a bit addicting. It’s such fun how various fabrics shape their personalities.
When making this bunny out of a scrap of an old worn-out quilt I decided that he didn’t really need any further eye and nose embellishments.
The bunnies can be tucked in anywhere.
If you want to forgo a carrot you could also tuck in a name tag for a pretty place setting.
Up next is my clever and creative friend Cindy of County Road 407.
I hope you have enjoyed this Easter craft.

What fun and cute little bunnies! How clever of you to come up with this sweet little decoration at this time when we can’t get out to purchase decor for our homes this Easter. It is always great to see people sharing patterns, especially at this time. May you find some joy in this Easter season and stay safe and well.

For whatever reason, I am finally turning sentimental. That’s a crazy thought to me since I have never ever been that way in all of my years. So these adorable bunnies made with scrap fabric (and dryer lint, LOL!) make my heart smile! I want an entire fluffle of bunnies! Aaahhhh! So stinkin cute! Obviously pinned. Hope y’all have a wonderful Easter celebration. How is Alyssa?

Super cute, Laura! I think even I could handle this one. It would be fun to do one of these and leave on my neighbor’s porch on Easter. Thanks for a great idea!

Cute bunnies. My Dad fed the bunnies outside his condo every night for many years – cut up carrots. He died on Tuesday and yesterday I got teary thinking of the poor bunnies who will never get carrots again….One night we forgot them and they came and banged on the screen door after he had gone to bed.

Your bunnies with carrots are adorable, Laura! This is a timely craft for adults, teens, and kids with supervision to create. Dryer lint is a great thought for stuffing if you don’t have any. I probably could sweep up enough dog fur to stuff a rabbit if I got desperate. When our Sherman tears apart a dog toy, I save the stuffing, so I’ve got a plentiful supply. 🙂
