Hello sweet friends! Thank you to all who left such kind comments on the Napoleon & Josephine Valentine Tablescape post. As promised here is the Regency Empire Biedermeier Fashion worn by my guests.
The terms Regency, Empire, Biedermeier are all used to describe a certain period of time. For clarification on how and when the various terms were used please visit this post.
Regency Empire Biedermeier Fashion
Liz of The Pragmatic Costumer was very well turned out.
I was completely smitten with the mini portraiture of her husband. I tried to find her “how-to” post but was unsuccessful. Liz HELP!!!
Liz’s mother in law, Becky, and I are truly kindred spirits. We are both dachshund lovers and enjoy making dresses from curtains.
Holley is dressed in her Regency finest.
Her lovely sprigged muslin gown featured antique silk buttons. Historically accurate accessories included a gorgeous summer weight silk shawl and a beautiful watch fob.
Leah’s azure blue bonnet and gown were absolutely stunning.
Christy is so talented at draping clothing and this incredible dress is no exception.
Isn’t Sandi’s turban just the best!?!
Coleen is shown here with her daughter Jewell.
Dixie’s ensemble featured a lovely turquoise silk spencer and a pretty cameo.
Becky brought joy with the wearin’ o the plaid. Her dress closed with five antique black buttons gleaned from her extensive collection.
Barbara’s bonnet was just too sweet!
Helen’s dress made me SO happy!
The sleeve detail and matching bonnet were gorgeous!
Of course, there was a JANE in attendance and she is just darling!
My dear friends Dartanyan and Daniel are devastatingly dapper.
History Bounding
With all the handcrafted elements that I made for the party decor as well as sewing four Regency dresses, I ran out of time to dress Mr. Decor. My one hasty attempt resulted in an outfit that was too small. Dartanyan came to our rescue and created a wonderful Darcyesque inspired shirt. I made his Georgian waistcoat a few years ago.
My sweet friend Catharine wore my favorite color and her gems sparkled so beautifully in person. She also playfully goes by the name of Silk Dragon. If you are in need of fabulous fabric you can find it at Fabric Trolls.

Last but not least is Lauren. She is the hostess for our next D/FW Costumers Guild event, an Emma movie meetup.
This fashionable group would love to have you join in the fun!
I’ll be back on Friday,
Laura

I’ve been eagerly awaiting the post of your tea! The decorations and food looked amazing, so much attention to detail! And seeing the fashions today was the icing on the cake. I enjoyed studying all the little details. Everyone is so talented! I bet the antique button collection was really neat. And speaking of buttons, I can’t remember if I told you about Grandmother’s Buttons in St. Francisville. They make jewelry out of old buttons and there’s an old bank vault with a huge collection of antique buttons. A “must see”!

Golly, this looks like a lot of fun. Love the figured muslin dresses! It’s like a Georgette Heyer book come to life.

I’ve seen the term sprigged muslin in books–now I know what it means! These are all so gorgeous.

I am in complete awe of the remarkable talent of your designer pals. Beautiful designs and workmanship down to the hats and the jewelry. There’s a lot of work in all that and boy, does it show. I know everyone had such a great time. I remember thinking during our time together how amazing this event would be but I think I may have underestimated the term amazing! (An overused term to be sure but it fits perfectly here!) I’m so impressed!
