September is a crazy busy month for me. This week I am planning Sweet Guy’s 18th birthday party. I’m also packing and preparing to work at Marburger Farms for the Round Top Antiques Week. The Fashionista is coming for a visit to assist. Then finally, I’m preparing for two house guests who will arrive one day AFTER I get back from Round Top. It’s a good thing I finished A $73.55 Bathroom Refresh!
A $73.55 Bathroom Refresh
I selected to update our upstairs bathroom to participate in the $100 Room Challenge. The object is simple, to update a room for less than one hundred dollars. I joined the challenge a week late so there were just three weeks to complete the challenge. But I am SO happy that it is done. The room truly is refreshed!
In week one I shared the space that was selected, a few BEFORE photos and my plans for the room.
- Fresh white paint
- Framing out the mirror
- Create storage
- Add beauty with artwork
I was feeling a bit frantic about completing the room on time and if I could stay under budget in week two.
The Reveal
I always appreciate a good BEFORE photograph.
The ceiling was painted a soft aqua and the walls got a new coat of bright white. I made the extra tall shower curtain from two thrift store panels.
The soft and clean color palette allows the artwork to take center stage.
Once upon a time, the walls featured a Pinterest fail.
But gold frames, found on clearance, coupled with simple art prints and matting help to provide a lovely environment.
The Look For Less
The bulk of the budget was spent on moulding and framing the artwork. You can see the complete breakdown of the budget HERE.
By using old paint I had on hand and shopping my home for accessories and other finishing touches allowed me to stay well under budget.
There was nothing special before in this tiny corner.
Framing the mirror and adding moulding to the ceiling elevates the look.
Tiny But Mighty
Bathrooms can always benefit from additional storage. The vanity here is so small it can only hold a set of towels and a few rolls of bathroom tissue.
The addition of a Victorian wicker stand and small cabinet do the trick. Towel hooks can be found on the back of the door. So once the towels are hung up there is a place for the guest to store their train case.
There is nothing worse than discovering you have left a crucial element at home while traveling.
The cabinet is filled with new travel-sized products I’ve received during previous hotel stays and in beauty bonus kits.
It’s just a nice welcoming touch for guests.
I hope you have enjoyed this very budget-friendly bathroom refresh.

Tiny but mighty indeed! I can hardly believe what you got accomplished with $73.55! I need to start shopping with you. I think my fave thing is the little wicker stand. We don’t even have room for that in our teeny bathroom. So glad we did this together or I would have never done it. You are an inspiration. Gotta go look at my calendar to see when I can pop on in there and use it! LOL.

Looks super nice, Laura! It’s the around the size of our only 2 bathrooms so it gives me an idea for one of them at least (our Master) that already has an above-the-toilet cabinet but I like the idea for the little wicker cabinet in front of the toilet area. I just may be able to pull that off sometime with a trip to my local charity-thrift store. 🙂 Thanks for the ideas.
