Earlier this week I traveled to Nashville, TN. It has been one year since my daughter moved to this vibrant city. She recently settled into a charming 1920’s Arts and Crafts style Bungalow. It was time for me to load up the truck and bring the last of her furniture and clothing that has been in storage at Storybook Cottage. It was a bittersweet journey. But I made the most of my visit while I was there and will share it on Saturday Smiles ‘Cause I’m Just A Nobody.
Role Reversal
I am counting the days until the movie release of Downton Abbey. Recently the cast members reversed their characters’ roles in a photoshoot for Harpers Bazaar.
Let Them Eat Cake
Earlier this week I enjoyed a birthday tea at the Hermitage Hotel Capitol Grille. Our tray of petit four cakes and macarons were served with lovely edible flowers. Who knew pansies and dandelions taste delicious. I’m now eager to try this Fresh Raspberry Layer Cake. Please be sure to say “Hello” to Jessica, the amazing hostess, and ask for Nathan the waiter.
Crafts To Make Now
This fantastic post contained several simple crafts to make. I can’t wait to try my hand at adorable little orange bookmarks and a few fabulous vases with some wooden beads and tassels.
Saturday Smiles ‘Cause I’m Just A Nobody
Last year as I turned 50 years old I challenged myself to find 50 Good Things each month. The practice was truly transformative. Each month I was amazed how easy it was to see goodness and be thankful when you are actively seeking it. I wanted to continue this year in a similar manner and I will be seeking 51 Opportunites To Do Good each month.
So let’s start today.
If you are feeling sad, left out, overlooked or like you don’t belong let me say that YOU MATTER. I’ve been there and it is truly a difficult journey. But there is ONE who will never leave you.
This is the anthem I have chosen to guide me in my fresh new year.
‘Cause I’m Just a NOBODY trying to tell everybody…
…the moral of the story is, EVERYBODY’s got a purpose.

Amen! I have never heard that Casting Crowns song before. Love it! Thank you for reminding me how much Jesus loves me and that I need to share His love with others so they might know Him too ❤️❤️

Since I know you personally I can truly vouch for the fact that you are a SOMEBODY. You are one of the most talented and intelligent people I know and then on top of that the sweetest, dearest friend. You have raised two amazing children that are exceptional and that is just the tip of the ice berg. Happy 51st, and may this be the best year ever.

Happy 51st birthday. Yes, everyone does matter and you are a blessing to the world for saying so. Thank you for your blog, I hope to do better about following you, because I always enjoy your post. Again, thank you and have a wonderful weekend.

Laura, I LOVED that song NOBODY! I will be passing it on and it is a wonderful anthem indeed!
Every time you post, count it as one or several ways to DO GOOD! You must humbly have no idea how many smiles
you bring and the goodness you impart to others. Have a very BLESSED BIRTHDAY YEAR!

I never heard this song but I ;love the meaning. I have felt down so many times, and each time I blamed myself for events that unfolded so hurtfully. In the future I will remember that I AM somebody and I believe that will lift me up.
Safe travels to Nashville. I can’t wait to see the photos. I went once and seriously thought I could be happy living there forever!

Thank you for the timely reminder, Laura. I had a mini sort of breakdown yesterday after yet another let down of someone who was once dear to me, and I was really just feeling worthless last night. But today is a new day.
Blessings to you,
Linda

LOVE those bookmarks. I might have to make a few of those myself!
I hope you share the bungalow with us. This had to be a hard trip for you, Laura. They do grow up.
Please come by my spot. When I wrote this post: https://themarmeladegypsy.blogspot.com/2019/08/road-trip-isabelle-de-borchgrave-and.html I thought of you. There will be another coming but I need to do a little more research before it goes up. Are you familiar with this woman? It was an unbelievable exhibition.

That role reversal pic is so fun. Last night I finished rewatching all 6 seasons of Downton Abbey so I would be ready for the movie.

As hard as it was to bring your daughter the last of her things from home, I know a new chapter has begun for you two. It’ll be good! <3 I just mailed a repurposed packing box to Peter and Justine with the fishing pole for the wii and a couple of birthday presents for them, childhood dog stories which were always Peter's but ended up with our regular books when we moved, and videos. I enjoyed packing those up since this spring and the happy memories which came with each little thing.
Glad you got to go visit your daughter,
The Best!
Hugs,
Barb 🙂
