Decor To Adore Spring Home Tour 2017

A warm “Welcome to Storybook Cottage”. I am so glad you are visiting the Decor To Adore Spring Home Tour 2017

It is so nice to be participating in the week-long Spring Home Tours hosted by my dear friend Marty from A Stroll Thru Life. I just love how she creates such a gorgeous home on a thrifty budget.

The mantel décor is often changed with the seasons at Storybook Cottage and this spring is no exception.

My daughter found this real bird’s nest and brought it home after the occupants had moved out.

Fairy lights make everything sparkle.

Across from the mantel is a vintage hutch that was updated with paint.

Spring Home Tour hutch

For the past two years, it has simply held dishes. Ready for a change it was transformed into a cabinet of curiosities.

Inspired by the spring my great grandmother’s Bavarian dishes were gathered and accented with wee bits of springtime bliss.

Heading to the entry the soft green color palette continues. I couldn’t find small eggs in soft green and blue colors so it was craft paint to the rescue.

A similar look continues in the dining area.

The unscented green candles were found at Ikea for a song.

Each place setting features a small nest placed on tiny white pedestals found in the Target $1 section.

Vintage linens, flatware, and crystal help to complete the look.

The sideboard showcases a springtime vignette nestled in the tiered tray made for under $15.

Kitchen

Our springtime kitchen was inspired by the English cottage look.

Across from the sink is the stove area.

This pot rack was created with objects found in the garage.

Further down on the same wall is a vintage apron vignette that also changes with the seasons.

Every English cottage needs a bit of cabbage and a few sheep.

The kitchen bay window recently received some new curtains made from tablecloths.

In the bay window itself, springtime accents were kept simple.

Mr. Décor made several wooden caddies recently and I adore using them in a variety of ways.

I hope you have enjoyed this year’s springtime tour at Storybook Cottage.

Happy Spring! How I love your sheep painting. Have you noticed that in photographs of sheep there is always at least one looking directly into the camera? The same way your painting shows the sheep. It's like they are posing. 🙂

Laura, you have transformed your storybook cottage into such a lovely abode. I really love your color choices throughout. Those green candles are such a pretty compliment to your already chosen palette. Just the little things – like the rumpled runner or the one set diagonally in the DR – I notice all these little touches – they bring such life to the settings.
Love your new guest bedroom bedding also – so cheerful!
Beautiful. If you've done all this while so busy with your life in school, I can't imagine what you'll be doing (perhaps hiring yourself out more?) once finished.
