Create A J Crew Necklace For Less

I fell instantly in love with this J. Crew Tortoise and Pearl Cluster necklace. I occasionally stalked the necklace for a few months hoping I would find it on clearance because I could not justify the $120 price tag. Sadly and understandably it sold out before ever being marked down. Create A J Crew Necklace For Less.

Recently while taking Sweet Guy back to school shopping I spied two bracelets in the J. Crew clearance bin. They were a final sale item priced at $9.99. A lightbulb went on in my head. Couldn’t two bracelets make one great necklace?

I began by removing the clasp and extra links with jewelry pliers. (They were set aside to be reattached later.)

I left one of the links open at the end as shown.

This allowed the two bracelets to be joined together by attaching the open link to a closed link and clamping it closed.

Because I wanted a longer necklace I attached some vintage rosary pearls to each end.

(You could also use a bit of metal chain which can be found at most craft stores in the jewelry making section.)

The clasp was reattached at the end of the pearl chain.

Thus making a $120 dream necklace mine for just $20.

I wore the heck out of it in California and received tons of compliments.

Oh you clever girl you! Isn't that funny (but so fortunate for you!) that the bracelets didn't sell out? I'm always amazed at what people do and don't buy. Your necklace is beautiful!
