Storybook Cottage Fall Home Tour 2015

Hello! Welcome to the Storybook Cottage fall home tour 2015 hosted by Marty at A Stroll Thru Life. If you have arrived for the first time from Hymns & Verses I am so glad you have come to visit. Doreen has truly fantastic style!Storybook Cottage Fall Home Tour 2015

Last year at this time I was living in a hotel with a husband, two kids, and two dogs. I am happy to be decorating for the fall season this year, so won’t you come in?Storybook Cottage Fall Home Tour 2015 Greetings from Laura

Storybook Cottage Fall Home Tour 2015

Let’s begin the tour of Storybook Cottage in the small entry.Fall Home Tour 2015 entry

This year our autumnal theme features shades of cream, aqua, and teal.Fall Home Tour 2015 tray

Adjacent to the entry is the living room.Fall Home Tours 2015 living room

The mantle is decorated very simply. I just placed a few mini pumpkins atop some wood candlesticks.Fall Home Tour 2015 mantle

I added some cozy felt pillows and filled the sea grass basket with birch logs and cotton stems.Fall Home Tours 2015 basket

The glass coffee table features a soft vignette of velvet pumpkins.

(For safety we never leave a lit candle unattended.)Fall Home Tour 2015 candle

The banister is bedecked as well.Fall Home Tours 2015 banister

I adore that our newel post is an upside down acorn. There are sixteen mature oak trees in our yard.Fall Home Tours 2015 newell post

A white porcelain pumpkin is the perfect finishing touch on a stack of books.Fall Home Tours 2015 stacks of books

The bar cart area has a few fall touches as well.Fall Home Tour 2015 bar cart

I layered a $2 oil painting from an estate sale over the mirror.Fall Home Tour 2015 painting

Next to the living room is the formal dining area.Fall Home Tour 2015 dining area

In the center of the table is a mini wheelbarrow Mr. Décor gave to me while we were still dating 19 years ago.Fall Home Tour 2015 wheelbarrow

It originally contained flowers but now holds pumpkins.Fall Home Tour 2015 centerpiece

I recently painted the pumpkins and shared all the DIY details HERE.Fall 2015 pumpkins

Over on the sideboard sits Mr. Squirrel accompanied by some rather large glass acorns.Fall Home Tour 2015 squirrel

A few stalks of wheat and dried moss provide great texture next to that spectacular tail.Fall Home Tour 2015 squirrel closeup

 The Kitchen

Through the open archway is the kitchen. It currently has a back to school theme featuring a palette of black, white and red.Fall Home Tour 2015 school themed table

You can view an extended post on the table setting HERE.Fall Home Tour 2015 school themed table place setting

A collection of vintage family aprons repeats the color concept.Fall Home Tour 2015 kitchen aprons

Because I spend so much time in the kitchen I love buying a bouquet of flowers at the market and creating little arrangements to place here and there.Fall Home Tour 2015 kitchen

They help to make daily tasks delightful.Fall Home Tour 2015 kitchen bouquet

The Family Room

In the family room, assorted wool pillows and throws are layered on the sofa. Our favorite is the Gunn plaid of course!Fall Home Tour 2015 family room pillows

Since this is more of a manly space I kept the kitschy décor to a minimum.Fall Home Tour 2015 decor

But I couldn’t resist adding one teeny red velvet pumpkin.Fall Home Tour 2015 wee pumpkin

This concludes the 2015 Storybook Cottage home tour.

Upcoming posts will showcase a daybed made from antique headboards…

…and fun pillows created from vintage tea towels.Fall Home Tours 2015 British tea towel pillows

The next stop on the tour features the delightfully talented Shannon from Burlap and Lace.

Laura, the mantelscape is to die for! When I think of how it looked before, tears come to my eyes at the thought of the gorgeous transformation you have made! The screen just makes the whole thing pop and really brings out the beauty of that painting!

Everything looks so pretty, Laura, starting with that beautiful display on your front door….and also your cute face! I adore different shades of aqua and turquoise and have been trying to incorporate into our daily decor. I think those colors just enhance all of the traditional Fall colors. Your collection of little velvet pumpkins is wonderful! Thanks so much for the tour!

Laura! I am so crushing over your Tiffany blue (aqua) foyer and LR. It is simply outstanding! Love the arrangement I am assuming you made in the foyer with peacock feathers (and is that birdseed or aquarium gravel in the glass vase? Either way, it's brilliantly done). Thank you for the tour – beautiful! Look how MUCH you've accomplished (not to mention school, and all your other family commitments). Way to go!! <3
