Acorn Elves

Every year I create a handcrafted ornament or Christmas decoration for my kids. This year it is Acorn Elves.

Acorn Elves

Acorn Elves

In addition I make a limited edition for my etsy shop. While this year is no exception, there is twist. I am calling this years ornament “Elves for Ceekay”.

Acorn Elves

This is my good friend Ceekay (with my doxie Rudi). She writes the blog “Thinkin of Home”.

Ceekay is currently in the hospital fighting a very bad reaction to her most recent chemotherapy session.

Ceekay

Ceekay and I met through blogging. We routinely get together with our other sweet blogging buddies. Our most recent lunch was held a few days before Halloween.

Oh boy can we talk, laugh, and most importantly share one another’s burdens. My friend Ceekay is many things: cheerful, crafty, smart, kind and sadly she has been determinedly battling ovarian cancer for as long as I have known her. But she never lets her illness define her.

At this luncheon Ceekay said she wished that there was a Make A Wish foundation for adults. Its her heartfelt desire to take her small family to Disneyland. As you know medical care is expensive. So while a visit to the happiest place on earth may seem like such a small thing, I know that her budget does not allow for such things.

Elves For Ceekay

I wish I personally knew Bill Gates, but I don’t. However I am crafty and I know blogland.

Together we can make this happen.

In my etsy shop you will find 15 small acorn elves for $10.00 each.

Acorn Elves

22 large acorn elves for $15.00 each

Acorn Elves

and 6 pink themed elves for $20.00 each.

Acorn Elves

100% of ALL the profits will go to Ceekay’s dream.

The elves are all hand-painted and handcrafted by me.

No two are alike.

Ceekay’s family is made up of her husband, her son, her daughter, son in law, and two grandchildren. If all 43 elves sell this will be a good start.

But I’ll need some help to make her wish completely come true.

You can spread the word by posting this button on your blog.

Elves for Ceekay

If you yourself have an Etsy shop and would like to donate a portion of your sales please let me know and I will promote it here on the Décor To Adore blog, DTA Facebook page, and DTA twitter site.

Elves for Ceekay

UPDATE: Thank you so much. All of the elves have sold!

Stay tuned when we surprise Ceekay!

You are SO SWEET to be doing this.

May I make two small suggestions?

First, also have a DONATE button – for those (like me) who wish to donate for this great cause but who needs nothing else but to feel good about helping. Not sure how to do it but hope you can do so.

ALSO, may I suggest an HTML with your little Elves for CK pic so we can add it to our hotbar all month long.

This is wonderful and I am praying for her – ovarian cancer is very strong in our family and one of our dear friends is battling it right now too, so CK is added to this daily prayer!

You are a good lady for doing this and I sure hope she can beat this again.

    xxoo

    Hi Laura,

These are absolutely adorable, and this is such a wonderful thing for you to do for Ceekay! I would like to buy the Small Elf Red Holly 2, if you would set that one aside for me. He will look so sweet and cheerful on our Christmas tree, and I hope it helps Ceekay and her family get to Disneyworld. We've been, and it really is a fun place.

    Hugs,

    Hi Laura,
You know you can count on me to help your blogging friend get to the Happiest Place on Earth! I just sold our Disney World Time Share or I would have offered that up. We finally had access to the island last weekend. No good news to share. 🙁

Laura, what a good friend you are – and I agree with Ceekay – there should be a Make a Wish foundation for adults. I am absolutely going over to get one of those darling elves. Ann

Prayers are sent to Ceekay in this time of need. Ovarian cancer is such a deadly disease. I know, because I suffered with it also. I just made a donation to Ceekay. I hope it will help achieve her dream.
