Way back in January I told you that I had tired of my 10-year-old black wool coat and was on the hunt for a new one. Alas, it seemed as if Phoenix was swimming only in a sea of black coats.
W.I.W.W. Shopping Off Season
I adore Tulle coats. Stores such as Anthropologie and Nordstrom seem to agree with me. The coat designs have a retro feel and they offer colors beyond basic black. The price point is generally in the $100 to $150 range.
After I had basically given up my search I spied one lone coat in a sea of clearance items. (Isn’t that always how it happens?) The price? $29.97.
Miraculously it was also my size. So, of course, I bought it. Even though it has already been in the ’80s here in Phoenix.
My favorite part is the peek a boo cute lining.
The silk blouse was bought on clearance at Anthro a few seasons ago. For modesty, I wear a Target cotton tank underneath. The too-long Ralph Lauren jeans were a steal at Marshall’s for $10. I just rolled the straight legs up. Forever 21 provided the $7 purple flats last spring. The cameo necklace is my own creation.

You bet I shop off season. I haven't paid retail, or even close, for anything in years. I bought my wedding dress for $20 and at the reception, every time someone came up to tell me how beautiful it was, I proudly told them what I paid.
My mother was appalled. I was so proud.

Nice coat, Laura! I always seem to have black coats, too, but this year I picked out a red flirty coat from Victoria's Secret for Christmas. It's nice to have a color other than black to wear! I do shop off season ~ I'm always looking through the clearance racks, but 9 times out of 10 when I find something I like it is not my size. : (

I LOVE your coat. Love. What a great bargain. I always buy things off season too. Sometimes I think I'm silly, but it's really the only way I can afford to shop. Great blouse. Have you heard of half-tees? So much better than a tank. Check it out at Halftee.com. I totally have nothing to do with this co. and don't get paid if you buy anything. I just only recently discovered them for myself and I am sold. I have 3 and adore them, wear them constantly.

I DEFINITELY shop off-season. A few weeks ago I picked up two pairs of corduroys at Ann Taylor Loft for $12.88 each. I didn't even take the tags off – I just stored them with my winter stuff. I think of it as an advance surprise gift for next winter.
Also, I love-love-love Tulle coats. I have the one you showed, but in green.

I am most definitely an off season shopper! In fact, I don't think I've purchased soemthing full price in YEARS. lol At least, not since I became a responsible adult and actually had to pay my own bills. =) That purple coat is simply gorgeous and I love the lighter colors in your floral top!

I too, have a black coat and would like to find a different one as it attracts so much dirt and lint. I can never seem to keep it clean and I wear it alot here in cool Colorado!
