A Captive Audience Creates a Delighted Mother

On Mother’s Day, I didn’t ask for flowers. A Captive Audience Creates a Delighted Mother.

I didn’t request breakfast in bed.

A Captive Audience Creates a Delighted Mother

No, I wanted something more. I wanted willing assistants who wouldn’t complain while helping me clean out their closets, try on some clothes that were perhaps too small, and maybe even get rid of a few things. It is a brilliant, EVIL ploy because they know they have to have smiling faces on Mother’s Day.

A Captive Audience Creates a Delighted Mother

I even made my family a huge batch of blueberry pancakes with bacon for breakfast and chicken satay accompanied by jasmine rice for dinner. Yes, on Mother’s Day. Because here is my secret: On Monday, the day AFTER Mother’s day, Mr. Decor went back to work, the kids are in school, there are glorious leftovers and the only thing I have to do besides enjoying this quiet day is to drop off a few things at Goodwill.

A Captive Audience Creates a Delighted Mother

Ok, it’s not that much, but I probably made you laugh and rethink your mother’s day plans for next year. Oh, and they still loved me enough to present me with a few cards like this:

Up next… the garage. Seems as though my birthday can’t get here soon enough.

Giving you what you really want is a sign of their deep love! And isn't that what Mother's Day is all about?

    Good for you!

Thanks for the smile this morning! Brilliant plan indeed. I thought for sure you were going to say that the only problem with dropping it off at good will is you end up coming home with bags of 'treasures' that end up in the garage! I love the card The Fashionista created for you!

    Your Friend,

Truer words have never been spoken! With school winding down I know my days of having a home that stays clean from 9am to 3:30pm are numbered.

Hey, I'm all about deception myself and am ticked that I did not employ this scheme!

    Rudy's picture is the best.

The Maven and I actually went through her “stuff” today and I have a large sack to drop off. It always feels good to take things to Goodwill knowing someone will enjoy the things we used to love. And we often find “new” things from there to fit our needs.

What a nice card you received – such talent – and I look forward to hearing about more devious-mother doings!

Very interesting plan. I asked for impatients and that they be planted by my family. The impatients are here, but we had to delay the planting as it's just too cold! Crazy that it was too cold on Mother's Day in New York for planting. HOPEFULLY they will be planted this weekend.
