Happy Tuesday! I hope you enjoyed the long holiday weekend. I made A Sweet Summertime Wreath.
A Sweet Summertime Wreath
The front door at Storybook Cottage receives quite a bit of exposure to the elements and the old wreath I had created last summer was looking a bit sad. The challenge in creating a bit of front door flair comes in the form of an oval window in the door. A standard round wreath doesn’t quite feel right.
For the base, I used an oval grapevine wreath from Hobby Lobby. (With a coupon it was about $4.)
All of the faux flowers came from Michaels. They had their spring and summer flowers priced at 80% off.
I stuck to a palette of softs greens, turquoise, coral, and cream.
The colors work well with our warm colored brick home and light green door.
The happy polka dot ribbon also came from Michaels. It was a bit of a challenge to work with unwired ribbon when creating the large bow but I just loved it.
I think it offers passing neighbors a “Happy Hello”.
What’s on your front door?

How do you hang your lovely wreath on the glass of your door, dear?
I cheat on my doors. I use clear line and a thumbtack. I thumbtack the knotted line to the top of the door's frame and it cannot be seen at all. No holes on the door front. No stickies on the glass either. I tie the wreath to the clear loop of line. Untie it to change out the wreath.
Hope you're feeling better, sweetie.

Your wreath is so pretty! I love the soft delicate colours you used against the colour of your door. Perfect!
I love seeing how you decorate your entry way up to greet your guests. They must all feel so welcome before they even ring your doorbell. 🙂
Thank you for sharing your inspiration and hope you are feeling better! Gentle {{{hugs}}}

You are so creative and find great bargains for your creations. I love the soft colors that go perfectly with your door.
I was so impressed with your patriotic bunting too. You are a great seamstress. How do you find all the time to sew and create. You are a whiz!
Hope your Fourth was special and that you are feeling better. Holidays are so busy I am catching up visiting today.

That looks so cheery, Laura! Very nice.
Our plain white door is behind a storm door (a necessity here where the winters are so cold) and right now I just have a cheap dollar store red/white/blue tinsel star on it but will change it out sometime soon. Haven't really been paying much attention at all to our house as life challenges have been getting in the way.

Hello dear adored readers who inquired:
I use the extra large clear command strips hook to hang the wreath. I attached it directly to the glass.
The secret is to wait the allotted time on the package directions before trying to hang the wreath up. 🙂

This is adorable, your faux flowers look so real! I love the polka dot ribbon too, so happy! I have a wreath on my front door too, but a bird built a nest in it and messed up the ribbon-I need to get busy and make a new one!
