Time is just flying by for the One Room Challenge! I am sorta laughing because I know you are going to look at this week’s after shot and think “Is that it?”
Week 3 ORC The Wallpaper and Cabinet is Down in the Old Palm Beach Bathroom
So here’s what went down (literally) this last week.
After the tile flooring was installed we turned our attention to the walls. First, I scraped off the jungle wallpaper border. I have a suspicion that originally it had been applied with cement. There’s nothing like standing on a ladder with your arms above your head for several hours.
Next, we took down the oversized, skull cracking cabinet. The glass/brass shower doors were also completely removed. The walls were patched and received a fresh coat of white paint.
The area immediately felt ten times bigger. (For those worried about storage, only the Fashionista uses this bathroom and the vanity cabinet provides plenty of storage.)
For all that effort the “AFTER” shot doesn’t really do all the work justice, but here it is.
You do have to admit that the room looks noticeably brighter now.
Next up, deciding what to do about the mirror and lighting.

You've got to get down to the bones before you can go any farther. It is looking great already and brighter and bigger.

Just getting wallpaper border down is a huge accomplishment! I swore the border that used to be in our bedroom had been put up with superglue and it was upside down! It drove me crazy until I got it all down. You really did a get a lot done! I can't wait to see what's next.

It's a lot of work for sure Laura, but the rewards will be all worth it!

Pfff you definitely have a lot of work, but what you did till now looks amazing. Good job, Laura! I can’t wait to see the final result and the next steps 🙂
Since I find you so interested in interior design, I would like to invite you to explore our rug world here: http://feltballrug.com/meet-the-team/ (it is our new video about our social impact). You’ll quickly find that a felt ball carpet is quite unlike anything else: http://feltballrug.com/inspiration . What do you think about them?

Isn't it wonderful the breathing space you get once you remove a border. At least you can't hang your head in shame because you put it up. No, I can though. And yes, what ever glue it is they put on the back of a border, the formula should be passed on to NASA so they can use it to stick their space crafts together. It is meant to stay on a wall for sure. lol
Looking forward to seeing the finished room. 🙂

Wow! great update. The room looks different with the new paint! I have been avoiding the painting process in my room. I know, I need to do it ASAP. It's just so much time needed and I'm just stenciling! Great update. Can't wait to see your progress next week.
