It's been awhile since I've done a post on historical architecture. They generally require several hours (sometimes days) of research on my part and I just haven't had the time. But here is A Love Story Set in Stone. In thinking about Valentine's Day I asked myself last week "Are there any buildings that have been built for love alone?" My mind quickly recalled that I had done a thesis paper on such a marvel for a historical architecture class. Interestingly enough, I asked my original ... View the Post
Love Lives In This House
I have always loved Valentine's Day. I believe that it is not just a day reserved for lovers, but for everyone with love in their heart. Even during my single years I would make plans to share a meal with other single friends, send a card to my widowed relatives and generally let those special people in my life know that they were (and are) loved. Love Lives In This House. This is the porch vignette that is currently greeting any visiting family or friends: Love Lives In This ... View the Post

Totally Trashed
I'll bet you were thinking I had a wild weekend. I'm sorry if you're disappointed. Totally Trashed! I assume that you own one of these or a similar configuration. Don't you just LOVE it? Totally Trashed I bought this rubbish bin a little over a year ago. It wasn't cheap. Within 2 months after purchasing it, the foot pedal broke. (I probably should not have let a herd of elephants use it, right?) Then, a few months after that the inner plastic liner cracked and wouldn't lift out any ... View the Post
Key West Architecture Redeux
I fell in love with Key West and hope you love this Key West Architecture Redeux. Key West Architecture Redeux I first saw pale blue porch ceilings in Savannah and later in Charleston. I was a delighted to see the blue ceilings again in Key West last week. I have been told a number of reasons why the light blue color is used. Wasps and other insects will not nest in an area they think is the sky. Blue paint reflects more light and the front rooms of a house painted as such ... View the Post
