Don’t grab the hot end!

Last Friday the weather was glorious here in Phoenix. (For those of you shoveling snow just remember for five months out of the year it is hot enough to singe your eyeballs.) I had reserved a spot in Terri Brush’s beginning soldering class. It was held in a lovely home in Phoenix that even had a pond full of koi. Don’t grab the hot end! Don’t grab the hot end! Roses and vincas were all abloom. The event was hosted by Melrose Vintage and they had set up a few of their delightful wares ... View the Post

Friday Freebie Cupcake Pedestals

I have accomplished so much during my blogging sabbatical. I have quite a few projects in the works which I will be sharing with you in the upcoming weeks. Recently, I found some sweet vintage treasures at the thrift shop that I repurposed. Friday Freebie Cupcake Pedestals.  Here are just some of the vintage plates and cake servers that are now for sale in my Etsy shop. Through the next week, I will donate 10% of all of my Etsy sales to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund. Now ... View the Post

Why A Stable?

Why A Stable? Have you ever stopped to consider why Jesus was born in a stable? Or why his birth was first revealed to the shepherds? Behold, a virgin shall be with child and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel." Isiah 7:14 "Joseph also went up, from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem." Luke 2:3 "And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be ... View the Post

Pick me, pick me! Craft 7

Pick me, pick me! Craft 7. I recently made some festive picks using vintage sheet music. Pick me, pick me! Craft 7 The larger leaf and blossom style ended up on my tree. A few now grace a couple of gift bags. It's funny how ideas come to you. As many of you know I create corsages using new and vintage elements. One of the things I do is snip off bits and pieces of new picks to add onto the corsages. After one such craft session as I was cleaning up I scooped up the pick ... View the Post

Santa’s Got A Brand New Bag Craft 6

Santa's Got A Brand New Bag Craft 6. Need a simple and sweet way to present your gifts? How about a fabric bag? The bottom of my tree is surrounded by bags. There are even small bags filled with treats tucked in the midst of the tree branches. Next to the tree is an old German sled topped with larger bags. No two are exactly the same. Here is a close up that shows bags embellished with doilies, rick rack, old lace and jingle bells. Although I don't have a problem with peekers in ... View the Post

It’s Not Christmas Until

It's Not Christmas Until... I have been consumed with school. In my home, there has really been no focus on Christmas fun, only finals. But that is now behind me and I have less than 10 days to make some memories with my children. I have been thinking about the Christmas memories I made as a child. I can only remember maybe one or two presents I received. So it's really not about the gifts. When I was little, shortly after Thanksgiving, my dad would go over to the corner of the family room ...
