The Red Pepper~ A Mother’s Journey

Interesting title right? I struggled with this post. I did not want to write it. It was too hard. To write this post would offer a deep, personal glimpse of me and my family for all the internet world to see. But still He whispered, nudged, perhaps even commanded me to write this post. Fair warning: This post is a bit wordy. You may be familiar with the following verse where God talks of our bodies being temples: "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, ... View the Post

Valentine Tussie Mussie Candy Container Tutorial

Tussie Mussie’s were extremely popular during the Victorian period. The term comes from two old English/Medieval words. Tussie means “knot of flowers” and mussie refers to the damp moss which was wrapped around the stems to keep them moist. Many of the posy holders used to carry the flowers were quite elaborate and were made from sterling silver, bone and ivory. I gave mine a bit of a twist and began with a paper mâché cone. Here is the DIY for a Valentine Tussie Mussie Candy Container ... View the Post

An Old French Bergère Chair Gets A Slipcover

We have been thinking about our upcoming move and what furniture we will sell and what furniture will take a trip on the moving van. A true favorite needed to be updated in order to make the cut. An Old French Bergère Chair Gets A Slipcover.  An Old French Bergère Chair Gets A Slipcover One chair that was on the chopping block was a French bergère chair and ottoman. While the form was quite attractive the upholstery was getting rather worn. Not to mention the Tuscan look that was once ... View the Post

A Boy’s Vintage Travel Themed Bedroom

Quite a few of my friends say that Sweet Guy’s room is their favorite room in our home. But I’ve never shared it before on the blog. He didn’t want me to. Sometimes my kids or Mr. Décor will do/say/create something SO great, but they want to keep it to just us. I respect that. But recently Sweet Guy decided his room was ready for the blog. There is SO much wonderful goodness in this room that I am kind of giddy at the thought of sharing this space. The bedroom to his door is at an angle ... View the Post

Customizing A Standard Shed

Mr. Décor recently customized a standard shed he bought in a box at a home improvement store. The shed was created for an area of the side yard that was a complete eyesore. The reason he needed to customize the shed is that the area measured just 7 feet wide. He first cleaned up the area and then laid out a pattern that would allow the doors to be opened and items moved in and out of the shed with ease. He determined that a shed measuring approximately 8’ wide by 3’ deep would work ... View the Post

Don’t Fence Me In

There was an area in our backyard that was a real eyesore. Mr. Décor changed all that. It was right off of the patio which made relaxing and enjoying our outdoor space a bit difficult. The area had become a bit of a dumpling ground. The first order of business was removing the large satellite dish that came with the house. It was given to a co worker who wanted one.  Next, the area closest to the brick patio was prepped and post holes were dug 2 feet deep in order to support three ... View the Post
