Olives and olive oil were displayed in abundance. Nougat is a local sweet treat. There are numerous types of dried fruit. The pineapple (ananas) was delicious! When I spied this ... View the Post

Monet’s Jardin Clos Normand (Closed Garden Normandy)

As much as I loved the peaceful tranquility of the Monet’s water lily pond I absolutely adored Monet’s Jardin Clos Normand (Closed Garden Normandy) in the front of his home. It was given its name, the Clos Normand, by Georges Truffaut, an esteemed French gardener. Monet’s Jardin Clos Normand (Closed Garden Normandy) From Monet’s second story bedroom window you could see the garden in all of its glory. To wake up to this every day could inspire almost everyone to paint. The arches were ... View the Post

Monet’s Water Lily Pond

After viewing Monet’s maison (home) it was just a short walking distance to the basin (pond) area, known as Monet’s Water Lily Pond. Monet’s Water Lily Pond The water lily pond is perhaps most closely associated with Claude Monet and his home at Giverny. He began painting the water lilies in 1899 and did not stop. Always a master of perspective and light studies, Monet created over 250 paintings in the series. “Le Bassin des Nympheas” (The Basin of the Water Lilies) ~Claude Monet, ... View the Post

Monet’s Home at Giverny

I have been dreaming about visiting Claude Monet’s home and garden for over 12 years. It finally happened and the experience was completely magical.
