Storybook Cottage A French Country Kitchen

I am going to tell you right now that the Storybook Cottage A French Country Kitchen is not finished. There are still countertops to be replaced, a stove to be saved for, curtains to be sewn, art to be hung…. and it’s not gonna get done before Christmas. But it really doesn’t matter because there is still beauty in the unfinished, the undone, the imperfect. I hope you agree with me. Storybook Cottage A French Country Kitchen Let’s get this party started with the glorious ... View the Post

A $3 Advent Wreath

I almost forgot to share A $3 Advent Wreath from dollar store supplies. But I had a few readers that kindly reminded me. I found the foam circle and taper candles at the Dollar Tree store. The pine greenery came from a Christmas tree lot that was only too happy to oblige when I asked if they had any free cuttings. The pan belonged to my mom, Nadine. It really shows its age with all the fantastic crazing in the cream-colored glaze. Simply place the florist foam inside whatever vessel ... View the Post

Easy Christmas Postcards

I generally send out over 100 Christmas cards to friends and family members. It often takes up to three full days to create a newsletter, hand sign and list the addresses of the cards. This year since I was off to a late start and Christmas is just three weeks away I wanted to hit a big “EASY” button. So I made Easy Christmas Postcards. I also try to send out change of address postcards whenever we move so I decided “Why not combine the two this year?” Typing in “vintage Christmas postcards” ... View the Post

Something More Sundays Week 1

There can be grace in grief we find in Something More Sundays Week 1. The holidays can be doubly difficult if someone has experienced the recent loss of a loved one. Enough tears can be shed to possibly brine a Thanksgiving turkey. I think most of you know that despite my desperate pleas for prayer I did not make it to my grandmother’s side before she passed away. This could be a prime opportunity for guilt in addition to grief. But I have decided not to invite that notion to live and fester ... View the Post

Thanksgiving Drink Station

Pinterest is filled with lovely images of Thanksgiving bar carts. Inspired, I sought to create a drink station for children and teetotalers. Here is our Thanksgiving Drink Station. Thanksgiving Drink Station On the sideboard, I used a bit of old petticoat ruffle as a runner and topped it with various bits of holiday sparkle. Keeping the harvest in mind I tried to bring in texture with wood trays, baskets, and the bounty of the season. If you have a bit of difficulty getting the ... View the Post

Simple Abundance

I want to thank everyone who has left me such wonderful comments, tweets, and messages during this difficult time. While I am still currently in Minnesota I felt that it was appropriate to run this post, which was written prior to my Grandmother’s passing, as she was one of the most faithful women I have been blessed to know. Next Sunday as I light my Simple Abundance Advent candle I will think of her.  Simple Abundance Black Friday is coming.   Along with it, there will be mobs of ... View the Post
