Wayfaring Wednesday Mackinac Island

Wayfaring Wednesday Mackinac Island

I keep a bucket list of places I would like to someday visit. Close to the top of the list is Wayfaring Wednesday Mackinac Island. Have you heard about this gem? It has been rated “One of the top 10 islands in the world” by Conde Nast Traveler.  Mackinac Island is an area of just 3.8 square miles. It is located in Lake Huron, at the eastern end of the Straights of Mackinac, between Michigan's upper and lower peninsulas.  It is accessible only by ferry, private boat or small ... View the Post

Wayfaring Wednesday Cool Cozumel

I am trying to think cool thoughts while the thermometer explodes. Given that I still have my hands full while Sweet Boy recovers from his recent surgery I decided to repost this oldie but goodie. It originally was featured in March of 2008 where it was viewed by a whopping 1 person. Here is Wayfaring Wednesday Cool Cozumel. Mr. Décor and I had not had an ALONE vacation in over 10 years. For our 10th anniversary we went on a cruise. Our second port stop was the island of Cozumel (Mexico). You ... View the Post

Wayfaring Wednesday

Two weeks ago my family and I took a trip to Vallecito Lake in Colorado. This man made reservoir is 23 miles Northeast of Durango and somehow remains lovely and unspoiled in this day and age. I thought it might be nice to kick off a summer travel series. Wayfaring Wednesday. Wayfaring Wednesday The San Juan National Forest area offers several lovely campground areas. No tv and no phone reception sounded like heaven to Mr. Décor. I am going to let you in on a little secret. I don’t ... View the Post

Cruising the Brittany Coast: Days 4~6 in France

I have a confession. I was eager to leave Paris. Even with all of its glamour and excitement I was longing for the quiet beauty of France. Perhaps I have just reached a “certain age”. But you can't blame me. I was eager to begin Cruising the Brittany Coast: Days 4~6 in France. Cruising the Brittany Coast: Days 4~6 in France We left Paris early in the morning and stopped in Chartres along the way to visit the cathedral. Soon after we were driving along the Brittany coast admiring quaint ... View the Post

Shopping on the Avenue des Champs Elysées Day 3 in Paris

I have to say of the three days I spent in Paris, the last was my favorite! I am not sure if it was the shopping, great food, or the non stop joy and laughter while experiencing all that Paris has to offer. Shopping on the Avenue des Champs Elysées Day 3 in Paris. Shopping on the Avenue des Champs Elysées Day 3 in Paris I began the day quickly driving past several of my favorite landmarks. La Tour Eiffel (Time for a climb?) Musée du Louvre  (Hello, Mona Lisa!) Pont Alexandre III ... View the Post

May Day, May Day Day 2 in Paris

Our apartment was located in a section of Paris often referred to as “La Jungle”. It was disheartening to see the gang activity of tagging (spray painted markings) appearing on several lovely old buildings. After being awake for 40+ hours at 10 pm and enjoying a truly full first day in Paris I climbed onto my piece of foam supported by a plywood platform and was dreaming of a restful nights sleep. The constant stream of unmuffled motorcycles right outside my window however had other ideas. I did ... View the Post
