Beautiful French Fabric A Bit of History and a Museum Tour

While in France my cousin and I visited several stores, a factory and a museum that all specialized in Provençal fabrics. The gorgeous fabric was originally made in India and the process was brought to France through the port of Marseille in the mid 17th century. The Indiennes stylized fabric, which is often referred to in England and America as chintz, featured bright and cheerful flora and fauna. As it was affordable and easy to care for it became an instant hit.  Beautiful French Fabric A Bit ... View the Post

Beautiful Things to do in Giverny after you’ve seen Claude’s Gardens

After you’ve ridden the early train from Paris to Vernon, taken the tour of Claude Monet’s home and strolled his gardens you might then think “I’ve come all this way, now what?” Even in doing all that I just listed my cousin and I found ourselves finished by 11:30 am. Monet’s Jardin Clos Normand (Closed Garden Normandy)

As much as I loved the peaceful tranquility of the Monet’s water lily pond I absolutely adored Monet’s Jardin Clos Normand (Closed Garden Normandy) in the front of his home. It was given its name, the Clos Normand, by Georges Truffaut, an esteemed French gardener. Monet’s Jardin Clos Normand (Closed Garden Normandy) From Monet’s second story bedroom window you could see the garden in all of its glory. To wake up to this every day could inspire almost everyone to paint. The arches were ... View the Post
